Worse still is “fag- got,” laden as it is with an atrocious history of meaning in relation to gay people. It’s a genuine physical reaction that I never would have ex- pected considering these are words that don’t strictly inflict themselves upon me personally. Not so long ago I used the words quite liberally myself. They’ve become part of the standard youth (and, to an increasing extent, adult) vocabulary. We’re indoctrinated to use them from a very young age and few initially think to question it. But as we grow worldlier, it’s our responsibility to think about how our actions may affect those around us, even indirectly. For sure, such words probably don’t upset absolute- ly everyone they relate to. However, it’s about considering the wider issues at play and quite literally training ourselves out of the behavioural patterns we’ve inadvertently learned. Thankfully, it’s beginning to be more widely recognised that these words are to be consciously avoided, even though the practice of doing so is proving to be disappointingly slow on the up-take. People frequently joke about the fact that I say “oh my gosh” rather often. That’s because there is another group of words that should be treated similarly to “gay” ones: those that are consid- ered blasphemous by people of faith. As with ZANE PUTS HIMSELF IN THE NAUGHTY CHAIR THESE DAYS sexuality, you don’t have to personally relate to others’ religious orientations to understand “Using outlier examples like this to try and nullify a person’s right to religion and respect that some words may cause of- is akin to accusing an anti-drugs protestor of hypocrisy for taking Panadol.” fence. November 10, 2020 For Immediate Release PARQUET COURTS ANNOUNCE “ON TIME” 10TH ANNIVERSARY LIVESTREAM AND RETROSPECTIVE ON DECEMBER 10TH; WATCH THE TRAILER HERE UNVEIL UNRELEASED TRACK, “HEY BUG,” FROM 2013 SUNBATHING ANIMAL SESSIONS Photo Credit: Samantha York Parquet Courts have been praised as one of the decade’s essential bands. Over the years, they’ve released five acclaimed studio albums, countless EPs and singles, and played over a thousand shows. Their influence reverberates not only through New York City’s music scene, but far beyond our shores. Lyrically, their songs have revealed a desperately prescient quality, as narratives of isolation, climate catastrophe, technological dependence, and police brutality pepper their body of work and have materialized years later in some of this decade’s darker moments. Yet through this all, the band’s positive calls to action continue to invigorate audiences to fight through their malaise and to find it within themselves to move. It’s this polarity of cause and response, inventive action spurred by repulsed reaction, that led writer Lindsay Zoladz to call them “one of the most vital rock bands working today” in her Slate column at the end of 2018. Today, the band announces “On Time,” a concert livestream and retrospective in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their first show. The show, filmed live at Brooklyn’s Pioneer Works, will air on December 10th, commemorating their first show ever, which took place at Monster Island on December 17th, 2010. It will feature rare archival footage, new interviews, exclusive merch available only to ticket buyers, and much more.

  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
