De vinder som regel i harmoni og kompleksitet ved at blive modnet (5-10 år). Vinene fra Fronsac nævnes ofte som gode (og ofte billigere) alternativer til St. Emilion- eller Pomerol-vine. Lalande de Pomerol profitierten von absolut perfektem Erntewetter. Nur im Norden des Médoc gab es einige Regenfälle. Il s'agit exclusivement de produits agricoles ou issus, en première transformation, de produits agricoles récoltés sur le territoire français. Ils sont d'origine fermière, artisanale ou industrielle. Organisé sous le contrôle de l'Etat, ce qui garantit son impartialité, le CGA a lieu chaque année et se déroule dans le cadre du Salon International de l'Agriculture. LA SÉLECTION Le CGA, réglementé par un arrêté du Ministère de l'Alimentation, de l'Agriculture et de la Pêche, associe le plus étroitement possible la profession à sa conception et à son évolution : - les prélèvements sont effectués par les agents de l'Etat, ou sous leur contrôle ; - les présélections sévères aboutissent à n'admettre en phase finale que des produits d'une qualité certaine ; - les jugements sont rendus par 3400 jurés indépendants constitués en jurys représentant l'ensemble d'une filière ; producteurs et transformateurs, négociants et distributeurs, techniciens, sommeliers et restaurateurs, consommateurs avertis. LA VALORISATION DE LA PRODUCTION AGRICOLE FRANÇAISE La finalité du CGA est de confronter les meilleurs des échantillons au sein d'une catégorie bien définie et homogène de produits, lors des dégustations effectuées par des experts. Il met l'accent sur leurs caractéristiques sensorielles, après avoir vérifié qu'ils correspondent bien aux normes officielles. La sélectivité des épreuves (moins de 23 % des inscrits obtiennent une médaille, moins de 8 % une médaille d'or) apporte aux candidats une référence externe solide et un gage de qualité (AOC, Label Rouge, Agriculture biologique, ...).
