Haspa is a savings bank committed to serving the public interest. HASPA Finanzhold- ing, a legal entity formed under old Hamburg law, holds 100 percent of the shares in Hamburger Sparkasse AG. HASPA Finanzholding is obligated by its articles of associa- tion and bylaws to fulfil the mission entrusted to the savings bank. Haspa is one of the few independent savings banks in Germany. It is also a member of the Hamburg-based Hanseatischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband (Hanseatic Savings Banks Association – HSGV) and the Frankfurt-based Verband der freien Sparkassen (Association of Independent Savings Banks). Through HSGV, Haspa is affiliated with the Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband e.V. (German Savings Banks Association) in Berlin and Bonn, and therefore fully included in the comprehensive guarantee system of all German savings banks. The German Savings Banks Finance Group has an institutional guarantee scheme that has been recognised as a deposit guarantee scheme under the German Deposit Guarantee Act (Einlagensicherungsgesetz).
