Westergard delves deeply into tapped and untapped waters in the mind aspects related to creativity, that compensates for personal and collective issues that are at the basis of good health. This type of psychology is closely related to the search for the meaning of life, spiritality and self-awareness that you are whole, not removed from Goda s a concept and Supreme realization. I am very fond of such existential matters, and I address them in this series of works. Their basic inspiration comes from Latvian mythology, our fables." Gallery Daugava, Ausekļa Street

MOZART’S PIANO CONCERTO AND "HAFFNER SYMPHONY" 28.01., 19:00 "Nordic tranquillity and Nordic fire meets in him," says composer Pēteris Vasks of his friend and colleague Juha Kangas. Another of Kangas’ spiritual relatives in music is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Ballet "Raymonda"

MENDELSSOHN, WIDMANN AND WEBER 10.03., 19:00 One of the trump cards of the incredibly talented German clarinettist, composer and conductor Jörg Widmann is his versatility. He performs regularly with the best German orchestras and is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Irish Cham- ber Orchestra. Widmann’s fascinating and adventurous compositions are beloved by maestros Mariss Jansons, Andris Nelsons, Paavo Järvi and Simon Rattle, who often include his works in their concert programmes. For his creative work Wid- mann has received the prestigious Claudio Abbado Composition Prize, and his dazzling clarinet performance continues to enchant the listeners with passionate musicality and incredible natural grace. Despite his dizzying concert schedule that takes the artist all around the world, Widmann has found a chance to return to Latvia. He will join Sinfonietta Rīga to perform Weber, conduct Mendelssohn and captivate the audience with his own music. Great Guild

BALLET "RAYMONDA" 10.03., 19:00 This work by genius Marius Petipa represents the artist’s rebirth in the twilight of his life. The Master created "Raymonda" at the age of 80 as the quintessence of his rich life. The plot is about a knight who embarks on a crusade and his bride. Dances by Raymonda and her friends appear as an accolade to female beauty and the multicoloured gamut of her feelings, while the entrance of sheikh Abdu-Rakhman and his suite brings Oriental inebriation and passion to the ballet, briefly stirring up the admirable harmony of Raymonda’s world. Landscapes and scenes of Latgale’s small towns like Ludza, Krāslava, Dagda, Viļāni and Balvi, among others, are the dominant motifs of his paintings. Most probably this choice of themes has been inspired by the artist’s childhood memories and his life in Latgale, and perhaps this also explains the coloristic qualities and sincerity of Zvejsalnieks’ paintings. CONCERT "MEMBRA JESU NOSTRI" 31.03., 19:00 Dietrich Buxtehude is one of the most prominent composers of the Baroque era. J.S. Bach, a great admirer of his music, avidly listened to Buxtehude’s concerts and wanted to marry his daughter. The cycle that will be performed in the concert is one of the composer’s best-known pieces. The cycle of seven cantatas musi- cally touches upon Christ’s crucified body. St.John’s Church
