Welcome to the Dragon Bay Legends Championships. InsideOut Sports & Entertainment is once again pleased to present a phenomenal cast of tennis legends to the Cayman Islands and the beautiful Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.

A remarkable playing fi eld including three former world No. 1s with a combined 12 titles is led by , and Marat Safi n. They will be joined by former world No. 5 , champion and Grand Slam fi nalist .

These tennis greats will be battling in a single-elimination shootout in their quest for the title and $120,000 in prize money.

DRAGON BAY, CREATING A LIFETIME OF MEMORIESIES YEAR BY YEAR.

In Grand Cayman this year, Courier will be looking for the Grand Cayman hat-trick after winning the previous two editions of the event in 2008 and 2009. In 2008, he defeated in the championship match 7-6, (3), 7-6 (1), earning him his fi rst victory on the Champions Series circuit in over a year. “It was a very physical match,” said Courier of his win over Ferreira in 2008, played in windy conditions. “It was a diffi cult match physically and the emotions of the fi nals also weigh on you.”

In 2009, he repeated as Grand Cayman champion defeating Arias, the unexpected fi nalist, 6-4, 6-2. “I started the match tight and Jimmy was playing aggressively,” said Courier after winning in 2009. “It was a battle. Once I turned it on, got some confi dence and started playing aggressively, things went in my favor.”

Arias has played some of his best tennis on the Champions Series circuit in Grand Cayman - posting his best two circuit results at The Residences at The Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman. In 2008, he posted a third-place fi nish in the event, beating 7-6 (3), 2-6, 10-8 (Champions Tie- Break) in the third-place match while registering a monumental upset of John McEnroe in round-robin play. The 7-5, 6-2 win for Arias over McEnroe was the fi rst time he had beaten the brash New Yorker in any type of tennis competition and is considered the biggest upset in the history of the Champions Series circuit. Krickstein was one of the most highly decorated junior champions in the history of U.S. tennis. He parlayed his amazing junior career into a remarkable pro career highlighted by fi ve years in the world’s Top 10 over the course of his 13 years on Tour. He is best known for being one of the most tenacious players ever, winning 28 times in fi ve-set matches (11 times from two sets down).
