Welcome to Madrid In 2022, from 28 April to 9 May, the world’s best tennis players will once again battle it th out on the Caja Mágica’s clay courts at the 20 edition of the Mutua Madrid Open. The tournament, which has now become a two-week affair, is part of the ATP Masters men's circuit and the WTA Premier Mandatory women's competition. It is the only Open in Europe with this duration and in which men's and women's competitions are held simultaneously. Get your ticket! Since 2009, the Mutua Madrid Open has been held at La Caja Mágica, designed by Dominique Perrault. An impressive modern tennis complex that is home to three courts with retractable roofs so that matches can be held in the open air or indoor. The roll-call of winners is testament to the greatness of this trophy: Andre Agassi (2002), Juan Carlos Ferrero (2003), Marat Safin (2004), Rafael Nadal (2005, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2017), Roger Federer (2006, 2009 and 2012), David Nalbandian (2007), Andy Murray (2008 and 2015), Novak Djokovic (2011, 2016 and 2019) and Alexander Zverev (2018 and 2021) for the men's competition. 2020 Western & Southern Open Doubles Field
Western & Southern Open Defending Champions Headline Doubles Fields CINCINNATI (Aug. 11, 2020) – Both the women’s and men’s defending champions are among the initial entries to play doubles at the 2020 Western & Southern Open, which will be held Aug. 20-28 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York. The 2019 WTA doubles winners – Lucie Hradecka and Andreja Klepac – are joined by the ATP Tour champions – Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek – to headline the early entries. Other notable entries on the women’s side include the teenage pairing of Cincinnati’s 18-year-old Caty McNally and 16-year-old Coco Gauff. Dubbed “McCoco,” the duo won a pair of WTA titles in 2019 – at Washington, D.C. and Luxembourg – and reached the US Open Round of 16. Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka, who finished 2019 atop the WTA Porsche Race to Shenzen as the season’s No. 1 team, are also in the field. Reigning Australian Open singles champion Sofia Kenin, a 21-year- old American, has entered with former Western & Southern Open singles and doubles winner Victoria Azarenka. Countrywide Classic USTA Men’s Challenger and The Home Depot Center USTA Women’s Challenger Pro Circuit Tournament Features Tennis’ Rising Stars The Home Depot Center to Host $50,000 Purse Tournament May 28 – June 3 CARSON, Calif., May 7, 2007 – The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced that The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., will host the Countrywide Classic USTA Men’s $50,000 Challenger and The Home Depot Center USTA Women’s $50,000 Challenger Monday, May 28 through Sunday, June 3. This is one of four combined tournaments on the USTA Pro Circuit scheduled for 2007. This year’s event marks the second time Carson has hosted a men’s challenger and is the inaugural event for the women. The Challenger tournament offers an opportunity for players to gain professional ranking points needed to compete on major tours. Players ranked as high as No. 50 in the world typically compete in challenger-level events. In 2005, Justin Gimelstob, a winner of nine professional titles, won the inaugural men’s event. Gimelstob has captured 13 ATP Tour doubles championships. Both fields will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams, drawing from the Top 200 tennis world rankings. Men’s singles qualifying will take place on Saturday, May 26, while the women’s is slated for Sunday, May 27. The event is free to the public Monday, May 28 – Saturday, June 2.
