Derek Carr’s Touchdown Challenge

Derek Carr, quarterback for the Oakland Raiders and a former Fresno State star, is asking for your help to support Valley Children’s. He and his wife, Heather, are proud supporters of Valley Children's Healthcare. Hours after their son, Dallas, was born in 2013, he was rushed into emergency surgery at Valley Children's Hospital. Dallas was born with intestinal malrotation, a potentially life- threatening congenital anomaly that can cut off blood supply to the intestinal tract. Dallas underwent two more surgeries and spent 23 days in Valley Children's Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the highest level of care available for neonates and infants between the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

Today, Dallas is healthy and rambunctious. Derek and his wife credit Valley Children's team of pediatric specialists with saving their son's life. "I want people to know how great this place is," says Derek. "There's no better place for them. They genuinely care for your child and that meant a lot. Every child who comes in here is their No. 1 priority."

We invite you to consider joining the Derek Carr Touchdown Challenge in support of Valley Children’s Healthcare. The premise is simple for this exclusive club: for every touchdown pass Derek throws in the upcoming 2016-17 season (plus any QB rushing TDs), participants will donate $100 to Valley Children’s Healthcare. At the completion of the season, participants make a single donation for the total number of touchdowns scored.

In appreciation for participating in the inaugural Touchdown Challenge, club members will receive an autographed photo of Derek and an invitation to attend a special reception with Derek in 2017. Participants will also be acknowledged in a weekly “Touchdown Count” post on the Valley Children’s Foundation’s Facebook page, recognizing Derek’s performance in the game as well as our generous Touchdown Challenge club members’ names. Members are encouraged to promote themselves as Touchdown Challenge club members on social media.
