Seine Erfolgsgeschichte gewinnt immer neuen Auftrieb. James Morrison, der englische Singer/Songwriter begeistert mit seiner neuen Single „Broken Strings“ aus dem Album „Songs For You, Truths For Me“. Mit dem Duett „Broken Strings“ eroberten Nelly Furtado und James Morrison sofort Platz #1 der deutschen Single-Charts. Dort hielt sich „Broken Strings“ 5 Wochen und ist nach 8 Wochen in den Charts immer noch in den Top-5. VÖ: 20.03.2009 (CD Album & Download) Endlich ist es soweit: „Und Endlich Unendlich“, das neue Album von Selig erscheint am Freitag! Selig, die nach zehn Jahren Funkstille wieder zusammen gefunden haben, veröffentlichen ein Album voller kleiner und großer Songperlen. Mit den neuen Songs können Selig nahtlos an die Hymnen anknüpfen, die sie in den neunziger Jahren zu einer der wichtigsten deutschen Bands werden ließ. Schon auf der ersten Single „Schau Schau…“, die man hier noch mal ansehen kann, reiht sich nahtlos ein in die alten Klassiker der Band. Alle Songs des nun vierten Selig-Studio-Albums oszillieren zwischen zarten, aber nicht zaghaften Balladen („Ich fall in deine Arme“), traumwandlerisch-hypnotischen Erlösungsliedern („Der schönste Weg“, „Traumfenster“), verführerischen Abgeh-Abschlepp-Songs („ Du siehst gut aus“) und stimmungsvollen Mid-Tem po-Hymnen (“Wir werden uns Wiedersehen“). Aber auch das zornige Lied („Die alte Zeit“) über einen erlebnisarmen Yuppie, der versucht, sich die alte Zeit zurück zu trinken, darf nicht fehlen. „Letzteres auch als freundliche Warnung an die heutigen Teenager, bloß nicht zu schnell zu BWL- Spießern zu werden.“ Und wo Selig schon dabei sind, kraxeln sie auch noch auf Siebenmeilen-Stiefeln den Berg hoch - mit einem ellenlangen Blues-Rock-Brocken im Schlepptau: „Wir dürfen das, weil wir das können“, sagt die Band über jenes Stück namens „Ich dachte schon“. Außerdem könne es auch nicht schaden, wenn die Kids von heute mal wieder hören, wie ein Gitarrensolo überhaupt klingt. Die zwölf Kompositionen entwickeln einen meditativen Sog. Und verfügen über die fast schon buddhistische Fähigkeit, sich zu sammeln und dadurch neu und unschuldig zu werden. Eingetaucht in eine himmlische und weit gereiste Begriffswelt aus großen Worten: “Und ich sehe uns schwimmen, durch die Himmel, noch einmal.“ Zeilen einer Band, für die große Emotionen eine Herausforderung sind, und kein Grund sich zu verstecken. Erfahrungsreich und ursprünglich zugleich. Selig sind also vom weinerlichen Gejammer und Zwangsoptimismus vieler Deutschrock-Bands ebenso weit entfernt wie von authentizitäts-verhöhnendem Diskurs Rock.
