ACES WILD ACES WILD the Story of the British Grand Prix the STORY of the Peter Miller
ACES WILD ACES WILD The Story of the British Grand Prix THE STORY OF THE Peter Miller Motor racing is one of the most 10. 3. BRITISH GRAND PRIX exacting and dangerous sports in the world today. And Grand Prix racing for Formula 1 single-seater cars is the RIX GREATS toughest of them all. The ultimate ambition of every racing driver since 1950, when the com petition was first introduced, has been to be crowned as 'World Cham pion'. In this, his fourth book, author Peter Miller looks into the back ground of just one of the annual qualifying rounds-the British Grand Prix-which go to make up the elusive title. Although by no means the oldest motor race on the English sporting calendar, the British Grand Prix has become recognised as an epic and invariably dramatic event, since its inception at Silverstone, Northants, on October 2nd, 1948. Since gaining World Championship status in May, 1950 — it was in fact the very first event in the Drivers' Championships of the W orld-this race has captured the interest not only of racing enthusiasts, LOONS but also of the man in the street. It has been said that the supreme test of the courage, skill and virtuosity of a Grand Prix driver is to w in the Monaco Grand Prix through the narrow streets of Monte Carlo and the German Grand Prix at the notorious Nürburgring. Both of these gruelling circuits cer tainly stretch a driver's reflexes to the limit and the winner of these classic events is assured of his rightful place in racing history. -

To put the T3 in context, its T2 predecessor suered a very poor ending to the 1977 season, failing to get the necessary warmth into its cross ply Goodyear tyres. In fact, brand new Ferrari driver, Giles Villeneuve, recalled the T2 feeling ‘unbelievably bad’ as he slipped and slided his example around Mosport during the Canadian Grand Prix that year. Ferrari designer, Mauro Forghieri spent much of 1977 creating a brand new chassis design in which the at-12 engine would continue into its ninth year of competition. Given the problems with the Goodyears, the new chassis was conceived around the dened characteristics of the Michelin radials. Other notable dierences between the T2 and the T3 were the completely new front suspension design and notably dierent upper body aero, which – in stark contrast to the T2 – sported a square-cut, predominantly at body top and engine cover, maximizing the air ow both over and under the centre pillar rear wing. Although not ready to be debuted until the third round of the championship at Kyalami in South Africa on 4th March, the T3 showed promising form during pre testing for the race. -

Fly On The Wall...............13 Again we, the NSCC have been asked to attend and contribute NSR News.........................16 to this great event, with a similar format to last year being “NSCC Bits And Pieces...................18 Live”, where some of your chosen Committee get to interview the Dutch Cup Race 2014.......26 movers and shakers of the slot car world in a series of live interviews Flyslot Review....................32 in front of an audience! In addition to the interviews, I am also led to believe we are providing one or two tracks etc. for the general public to have a go on and also as a means to promote the Club further, consequently as per previous years we are looking for a small and dedicated team of members to assist the Committee over the two days. So we are asking for any members who can spare a couple of hours to get in touch (email me please or see me at the Orpington swapmeet) and volunteer to help your Club, there may be a little something in it on the day and you can also get to purchase an event T-shirt from us, a very limited memento of the event! Finally, as previous years we have booked a nice little hotel near the event so those that wish to assist or who are just attending can join us for the Saturday evening (Friday and Sunday night are also available). -

GP DE PAU HISTORIQUE (25/26 MAI) L’Année Des Retours
South African Motorsport - a Business Perspective of The
SOUTH AFRICAN MOTORSPORT - A BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE OF THE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY BY: GARETH JOYCE (STUDENT NUMBER: 9704663) RESEARCH THESIS PRESENTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE. REQUIREMENT FOR THE DEGREE MASTER OF COMMERCE IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT IN THE FACULTY OF ECONOMIC AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCE OF THE RAND AFRIKAANS UNIVERSITY STUDY LEADER: PROF. S. KRUGER OCTOBER 1999 Key Value Drivers of Track Motorsport in South Africa OPSOMMING TITEL: "SOUTH AFRICAN MOTORSPORT - A BUSINESS PERSPECTIVE OF THE INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY" rormule Een motorsport is vir bale entoesiaste die hoogtepunt van motorsport.
