Jarucha Yeesang*, Sukanya Yamsuan and Wanpen Kaewpuk Faculty of Science and Technology, Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, Mueang District, Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand 73000 Corresponding Author’s Email: [email protected] Abstract This experimental research aimed to investigate an appropriate utilization of rice noodle processing wastewater for Spirulina sp. cultivation and encourage the utilization of wastewater from rice noodle factories in Prong Madua Community. The research methods were 1) study the contexts of community and in the wisdom group of rice noodle innovative production in Prong Madua Community, Amphoe Mueang, Nakhon Pathom; 2) analyze wastewater quality and study wastewater quality suitable for Spirulina sp. cultivation in a laboratory; and 3) cultivate Spirulina sp. outdoor in wastewater from rice noodle factories in Prong Madua Community. The research period was from October 2013 to August 2014. According to the research result, it was found that 1) Khun Boonruen’s rice noodle factory was the biggest factory in Prong Madua Community and in the wisdom group of rice noodle innovative production. In this factory, there were about 20 employees in the factory; they were labors from the community. This factory produced fermented and non-fermented rice noodle for wholesaling at Klong Toei market. The production rate was approximately 3-4 tons per day with 800- 1,000 liters of wastewater in average. 2) As for the analysis of wastewater quality, processing wastewater quality was at the standard level with COD between 17,000 - 17,600 mg/L. When cultivating Spirulina sp. in wastewater medium diluted with distillated water at the dilution rate of 1:20 (volume by volume), Spirulina sp. could grow best at 1.8x107 cell/ml. 3) Regarding the outdoor cultivation of Spirulina sp., the level of COD was decreased at 87% from 638 to 81.33 mg/L. The results can be concluded that rice noodle processing wastewater has potential for cultivating Spirulina sp. and it would be the guideline for utilizing community waste for developing the potentiality and economy of the community. The research methodology was divided into 3 phase. The first phase was a preparation; reinforce the effectiveness of research team and data collection. The second phase was action-taking. The third phase was the conclusion and evaluation of the project. Research tools were interview and colloquy with village headman, assistant village headman, member of sub-district administration organization, academician, student and villagers. The area of the study was Banhinpoon, Khaowyai Sub-district, Kantarawichai District, Maha Sarakham Province. The research result showed that community villagers can initiate and promote their thinking process after getting the suggestion from the research team and lecturer. The participation of villagers have changed quantitatively and qualitatively that almost 70% of the villagers participated in the project and dared to share idea in group discussion. The committee of the rice bank and villagers have cooperated in solving the rice bank problems. For example, when the member returned the low quality rice that is not suitable for using as seed, the rice bank committee sold them and used the money for buying qualified seed for loan. Trail planting farm is done for getting high quality seeds that will be brought back to the rice bank for loan. Other activities done under the project such as, learning how to do bookkeeping, managing capital, making biofertilizer and properly growing rice could reduce cost and add more income. Consequently, villagers gain better living condition, become self-dependent and live with sustainability. The objectives of this research are to study the situation and issues related to occupational fish farming, availability of social capital (knowledge, techniques and wisdom), the factors and conditions of risk associated in fish farming occupations. The results were used to create a learning process to achieve security and stability in the profession of fish farming in the community. The results revealed that Ban Yang Noi has a largest number of fish hatchery farms in Maha Sarakham province. Most villagers have been working as fish farmers for many decades. Fish hatcheries in this area produce millions of fry sold across the country each year. Farmers who began his career in the early stages have made a very good income from selling fish to the state, stimulating aquaculture business to expand rapidly. Kosoompisai Fisheries and Aquaculture Cooperatives were established by the integration of fish hatchery operators in 1993, the first term cooperative was successful and has been awarded a cooperative of great distinction in 1999. After that, the operation of cooperative has started facing the fierce market competition with many other farmers around the region. Since most fish hatcheries in this community produce a few fish species similar to those in the nearby region, this causes a problem of excessive fish supply rendering selling price drop sharply. The production system was inefficient due to lack of good practice, new fish species and appropriate technical know-how, as well as the problem of risen production costs. As a result, many farmers lost and discontinued their businesses. The remaining farmers have severely faced the problems of lack of quality fish breeders and the presence of natural threats such as climate change that leads to variable and uncertain amount of rainfall each year. The increased input prices with the decreased sales of fish fry have caused the fish hatchery business sluggish. Most fish farmers have reduced their production volumes and cut down the numbers of employees to allow only the occasional daily job or inevitably they have to terminate the employment of their staff. All these constraints had great adverse impact on social, economic, community. Most farms are at risk of going

Seroprevalence among rodents from Nakhon Pathom Province (2.3%), was mostly find in Rattus norvegicus (3.8%) and Bandicota indica (2.6%). In Nakhon Ratchasima Province seroprevalence (4.0%) was mostly in Bandicota indica (19.1%) and Rattus exulans (3.5%).
