OCTOBER 2018 | VOLUME X | ISSUE 10 New Program - Chat With A Pro Chat With A Pro is a brand new mentorship program for young people (10 years old and up) that are just starting to dream of an arts career and do not quite have enough experience yet or do not know what they have to do to get there. Many artists know what they want to do or what they want to be at a young age. Our goal is to not let them get discouraged! The "Pro" in this case discusses with the student what to do, where to go, and how to get experience, which helps the young artist build the skills necessary to move forward with their arts career. They will leave with a plan and the encouragement of how to get to their goals. Interested in Chat With A Pro mentorship program: contact [email protected]. New AWoL Mentorships! Art Without Limits (AWoL), asks that its mentored Emerging Artists give back to our community, the generations to come, and to their mentor. Video Credit: Jodi McLeod This past Sunday, September 16, 2018, some of our team at Art Without Limits had the opportunity to see our fiscally sponsored artist, Adam Phillips, and the Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara perform a “rich amalgam of folk and classical music" at the El Presidio Chapel. The performance brought together some of Santa Barbara's best musicians to showcase the music of Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, and Denmark through exciting, unique orchestrations that incorporated traditional instruments including the nyckelharpa (Norwegian keyed fiddle), hurdy gurdy, sackpipa (Swedish bagpipes), and seljefløyte (Norwegian overtone flute). Adam is showing achievements with the Folk Orchestra of Santa Barbara. Can't wait until the next performance! Recap of September BizArts Workshop with Author Bruce Hale This September, our Art Without Limits BizArts Workshop was geared towards the focus of Business Storytelling for Artists to help take the pain out of self-promotion with help from author, actor, and Fulbright Scholar, Bruce Hale. Bruce taught the fundamentals of storytelling and provided the opportunity to practice and apply those skills to develop our own stories that would be directed toward grant organizations, gallery owners, directors, and more. Many of the BizArts participants had this to say: "We learned that stories touch the heart and that is what sells our art." If you didn’t have a chance to make this BizArts Workshop, B ruce Hale make sure to look out for our BizArts in November! P hoto by Jodi McLeod Help Make BizArts Better!
