THE HERTFORDSHIRE (TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN VARIOUS ROADS IN GARDEN CITY, WESTON, , , , , AND REDCOATS GREEN) ORDER 2019

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of Chalk Hills, Letchworth Garden City/Hatch Lane, Weston from its junction with B197 London Road south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Fore Street, a distance of approximately 2670 metres.

An alternative route will be via B197 London Road, A505 Baldock Bypass, B197 Jacks Hill, Lannock Hill, Hitchin Road, Damask Green Road and Fore Street.

2. that length of Damask Green Road, Weston from its junction with Hitchin Road south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Weston Road, a distance of approximately 1847 metres.

An alternative route will be via Hitchin Road, Lannock Hill, B197 (Jacks Hill/High Street/ North Road), Coreys Mill Lane, A602 Hitchin Road, A1057 Martins Way, Canterbury Way, Way, Calder Way and Weston Road.

3. the Road/Church Lane roundabout, Stevenage from its junction with Stanmore Road clockwise for its entire length.

An alternative route will be via Walkern Road, Letchmore Road and Church Lane or via Stanmore Road, Basils Road, Letchmore Road and Church Lane or via Walkern Road, Letchmore Road, High Street and Walkern Road.

4. that length of Church Lane, Stevenage from its junction with the Walkern Road/ Stanmore Road roundabout south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with Letchmore Road, a distance of approximately 486 metres.

An alternative route will be via Walkern Road, High Street, Letchmore Road and Walkern Road.

5. that length of A602 Broadhall Way, Stevenage from its junction with the A1072 Gunnels Wood Road roundabout south westwards to its junction with the A1(M) (junction 7) roundabout, a distance of approximately 268 metres.

An alternative route will be via A1072 Gunnels Wood Road, A602 Hitchin Road and the A1(M).

6. that length of Oughton Head Way, Hitchin from its junction with A505 Bedford Road north westwards and south westwards to its junction with Lavender Way, a distance of approximately 235 metres.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

7. that length of Barley Rise, Baldock from its junction with Yeomanry Drive south eastwards, north eastwards and south westwards for its entire length.

8. that length of High Street/Ashwell Road, Hinxworth from a point 327 metres north west of its junction with Chapel Street south eastwards for a distance of approximately 700 metres.

An alternative route will be via High Street, Edworth (unnamed road), the A1 (London Road/unnamed road), A507 Great North Road, Newnham Road, Ashwell Road, Newnham Way, Hinxworth Road and Ashwell Road or via Ashwell Road, Hinxworth Road, Newnham Way, Ashwell Road, Newnham Road, A507 Great North Road, A1 (unnamed road/London Road), Edworth Road, C184 (unnamed road), Edworth (unnamed road) and High Street.

9. that length of Sperberry Hill, St Ippolyts/Stevenage Road, Redcoats Green from its junction with B656 London Road north eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards to its junction with Blackmore End Road, a distance of approximately 1406 metres.

An alternative route will be via B656 London Road, A602 Stevenage Road, Stevenage Road and Blackmore End Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 28 January 2019 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

A copy of the proposed Order may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).
