13Th November 2019 Application by the Esso Petroleum Company 13th November 2019 Application by the Esso Petroleum Company, Limited for an Order Granting Development Consent for the Southampton to London Pipeline Project Your ref: EN070005 Dear Sir/Madam Please find attached 3 pdf files pertaining to our petition to save Queen Elizabeth Park in Farnborough, in relation to the proposed plans for the Southampton to Heathrow pipeline. The first file contains 1124 signatures which were collected from local residents in paper form. The second file contains 5079 signatures collected via an online petition through Change.org. (www.change.org/p/rushmoor-borough-council-save-queen-elizabeth-park-in-farnborough) The third file contains the comments left on the online petition by the people who have signed it. The petition was started by myself on the 1st of October 2019 and the total as of 12.00 on the 13th of November is 6203. The number of signatures on the petition and the speed with which they were gathered shows the strength and feeling of local opposition to the planned route through the park and the inevitable long term damage it will cause. The hundreds of comments we have received also highlight the fact that the vast majority of people do not object to the pipeline itself, and would support a different route using more considerate installation techniques which would significantly reduce the potential damage to the park. We hope that you will take into consideration the significant opposition of the plans in their current form and that Esso will agree to a route and installation techniques that the people of Farnborough can support. Yours sincerely Peta Howell On behalf of “Save Queen Elizabeth Park” www.queenelizabethpark.net PDF 1 First file contains 1124 signatures which were collected from local residents in paper form CONFIDENTIAL due to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Recipient: Rushmoor Borough Council, Leo Docherty MP, The Planning inspectorate for England and Wales Letter: Greetings, Save Queen Elizabeth Park in Farnborough! Comments Name Location Date Comment penny macleod brighton, 2019-10-02 "We play in this park. Not many beautiful spots left in England, UK Farnborough." Peta Howell Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "This park is the heartland of farnborough and one of our England, UK few remaining wooded green spaces within the town. To see it needlessly destroyed in what would be a cost saving exercise would be a travesty." Natalie Gladman Basingstoke, 2019-10-02 "Rushmoor BC and our MP must represent Farnborough England, UK residents properly- with a commitment to ensure that this global giant does not ruin one of the few beautiful places left in Farnborough. It’s clear that these proposals are purely aimed at lowering costs - with no genuine care or concern for the implications. RBC, Leo Docherty - support residents first, not big business. I hope you remember who votes you into these positions and look after Farnborough’s interests first." Cressie Helmer Biggin Hill, 2019-10-02 "Trees are our oxygen? No contest, of course I am going to England, UK sign." Donna hillman Worplesdon, 2019-10-02 "Please sign and share. This is awful and they clearly hid England, UK what they were doing in paperwork to avoid complaints!" John York Billings, 2019-10-02 "Parks are essential to human mental health and well Montana, US being." Clare Pope FARNBOROUGH, 2019-10-02 "We live in a world where we are trying to teach children England, UK sustainability. What message does this send them?" laura Farnham, 2019-10-02 "we love and use and appreciate this woodland and play merryweather England, UK area. It's beautiful and we need MORE trees not less!!!!" Yasmin shaw Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "It's the only woodland left in Farnborough keep the trees!" England, UK Susie Atterbury Woking, 2019-10-02 "The cutting down of any trees is an issue." England, UK charlotte rowe Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "We should be protecting our parks and woodland and England, UK preserving natural habitats" Peter Barnett Camberley, 2019-10-02 "There's a climate emergency - we should be planting trees, England, UK not cutting them down!" Sheryl Rooney Egham, England, 2019-10-02 "This a beautiful area lived and used by many. A gem UK of a place. Both the woodland area and playground are frequently used by myself, family and friends. It would be a devastating loss" Name Location Date Comment Laura Ellison Fleet, England, 2019-10-02 "I think it would be a shame to loose the park." UK Shelley Oakeshott Brighton, UK 2019-10-02 "This is a unique and beautiful piece of woodland that is central to the lives of people who live in Farnborough. There are no circumstances where this proposal would ever be acceptable." Leonie Hilborn Aldershot, 2019-10-02 "The park is an integral part of the local and extended England, UK community." Kate Danks Ash Vale, 2019-10-02 "I dont want to see a rare local area of greenery destroyed" England, UK Annette Andria Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "far to few Trees and nice area to walk in Farnborough" stevenson England, UK Tracy Forster Camberley, 2019-10-02 "Totally unacceptable to chop trees down find a solution!!" England, UK Steven Woodward Paris, France 2019-10-02 "Well done Esso - not sure this approach really sits with your environment charter. You should be ashamed, but hey what's one more tree when you have share holder revenue targets to meet and a supportive local planning system, that doesn't care about irreversible climate damage and a few bats, woodpeckers etc. https://www.esso.ca/en/environment "Reducing environmental impacts while pursuing reliable and affordable energy" - yeah right, you make sick. Green space should be just that, well unless you live in Rushmoor of course...." Kel Stevenson Portsmouth, UK 2019-10-02 "I love the park" Jackie Allnutt Lyndhurst, 2019-10-02 "Farnborough is so populated, healthy and communal areas England, UK like this should be kept for everyone to enjoy." Elizabeth Gill UK 2019-10-02 "This is a wonderful place for wildlife, adults and children. It must be protected." Jackie Kenny Brookwood, 2019-10-02 "This is well used area for the local and wider community, England, UK providing a safe, green area in a busy town. Alternative solutions must be sort." Lesley Howlett Pagham, 2019-10-02 "As a former resident I feel strongly about this. Developers, England, UK services, businesses across the country are sacrificing our trees. We understand the need but please, we kindly ask, replant." Debbie \\morffew Guildford, 2019-10-02 "It’s essential that our trees are protected." England, UK Rebecca Fryer Lindford, 2019-10-02 "Beautiful woodland that needs saving" England, UK Name Location Date Comment Hazel Tiffany Camberley, 2019-10-02 "With so few green spaces like this, the area should be England, UK preserved!" Andrea Hay Headley, 2019-10-02 "We should not be further exploiting fossil fuels but certainly England, UK there should be no environmental destruction." Mark Vizard Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "I believe this is wanton destruction of a valuable natural England, UK area which is a valuable amenity for the local community." Sara Dance Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "We are lucky enough to live very near to this delightful park England, UK and it is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk, sit and play. My children spend hours climbing, walking and playing, throughout the changing seasons. An alternative option needs to be found. We should be planting more trees, not cutting them down!" Louise Punchard Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "I enjoyed this park as a child and now go there with my England, UK son. The play area is always popular and well used, and we always go on a nature ramble through the woodland too. To think that Esso are considering destroying it is very upsetting, there is nowhere else like it nearby. My son is upset as he thinks the wildlife we see there will be killed. We might as well just keep our kids indoors if it's destroyed. It's very built up around there, and Queen Elizabeth Park is the only green space." Martin Soane Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "As a child I used to play in the park for many hours a England, UK week and feel that any loss of the historic trees would be a massive loss not only to the community now but for the next generation of the children of Farnborough and would seriously ask Esso to reconsider the approach of open ditches and opt for the less intrusive tunnel method.. I mean if TFL and cross rail can dig through London I’m sure that Esso as a company could choose the same route and not opt for the cheaper more destructive option of open trenches." Rachel Hewson Farnborough, 2019-10-02 "I visit this park every single day and knew nothing of these England, UK plans. It seems like it has been kept a secret to minimise the likelihood of residents of disagreeing with what is proposed." Wendy Wingham Aldershot, 2019-10-02 "Please rethink other options. The area is heavily built-up England, UK and we need to preserve these precious trees. I used to play there as a child, my children played there, had walks and picnics, endless hours of fun and peace and tranquility, safely away from increasingly busy traffic; and it's a well used park that would be sorely missed. Just think about the future implications of its loss, that is all I ask of Esso." Janice Beresford Woking, 2019-10-03 "Janice beresford" England, UK Chris Oldfield Frimley, 2019-10-03 "This green space gives a valuable home to insect and England, UK animal life in this small corner of Farnborough.
