It was also observed that the active participation of Nso’ Christians in Bible studies done in Lamnso’ points to great prospects in the extensive use of Lamnso’ scriptures. Hence, the author in the thesis seeks to devise a strategy for promoting Lamnso’ scriptures for extensive use. He consulted academic works to find out what others have written in view of the importance of mother tongue scriptures and conducted a historical analysis to find out how historical factors have shaped the attitude of Baptist churches towards scriptures in Lamnso’. He did an empirical study by sending questionnaires to fifty-seven Baptist churches and receiving feedback. Data collected was analyzed and interpreted. The result shows that even though Lamnso’ scriptures are indispensable to spiritual maturity among Nso’ Baptist Christians, their use in evangelism and discipleship do not reflect their importance. This is due to lack of a proper strategy and biblical teaching on the importance of mother scriptures. Consequently, he has carried out a theological framework to provide a theological basis for setting forth a strategy for promoting Lamnso’ scriptures. The theological framework is followed by a practical framework based on the historical and empirical analyses, as well as the theological obligations of the church. The author contends that proposed solutions, recommendations and action plans with practical steps must be implemented by individual Baptist Christians, churches, Baptist theological institutions and the Cameroon Baptist Convention at large so that Lamnso’ scriptures assume their proper place in evangelism and discipleship for the growth of the church. 4 TABLE OF CONTENTS CHAPTER 1: Introduction Before the late 19th and early 20th centuries the indigenous population of the Bamenda Grassfields relied so much on traditional medicine in healing themselves. Local herbalists with the use of natural materials and other instruments carried out diagnosis and prescribed treatment to their patients. With the arrival of the Hausa and Fulani people into the Bamenda Grassfields along side their tradi-practitioners; things started taking a different turn. Most of the indigenous people started adopting the Hausa-Fulani healing methods to the detriment of their own traditional method of treatment. Even the arrival of the colonial masters to the area in the 19th Century and their introduction of conventional medicine or hospitals did not affect the popularity already gained by the Hausa-Fulani healing method. As a result, the Hausa-Fulani healing and medicine greatly influenced the health sector in the Bamenda Grassfields. To carry out this study, primary and secondary sources were used. At the end of the study, we were able to come out with the following conclusions: That the indigenous people of the Bamenda Grassfields had their own traditional method of treatment before the coming of the Hausa-Fulani traditional healers to the area.

The objective is to identify the reasons for these within the Grassfields movements, identify the changing patterns of the movements and the impact on Grassfields solidarity and le vivre ensemble. Drawing largely from primary and secondary sources and using a chronological cum thematic approach in the presentation of the data, the article concludes that political and economic exigencies provoked the movement of populations and that these Grassfields people maintained their solidarity and cultural uniformity despite the linguistic and colonial boundary imposed by the Europeans between the North West and West Regions of Cameroon that constitute the Grassfields. This study therefore sustains the argument that the North West and West Regions of Cameroon are more united historically and culturally than is the South West and North West Regions that constitute Anglophone Cameroon as the extremists of the "Anglophone Problem" may claim.     New Tools for the Analysis of Political Power in Africa Ilia Rainer and Francesco Trebbi∗ April 2012 Abstract The study of autocracies and weakly institutionalized countries is plagued by scarcity of information about the relative strength of different players within the political sys- tem. This paper presents novel data on the composition of government coalitions in asampleoffifteen post-colonial African countries suited to this task. We emphasize the role of the executive branch as the central fulcrum of all national political systems in our sample, especially relative to other institutional bodies such as the legislative assembly. Leveraging on the impressive body of work documenting the crucial role of ethnic fragmentation as a main driver of political and social friction in Africa, the paper further details the construction of ethnic composition measures for executive cabinets.     UNAFAS:Conservation Values Programme, BP 307, Yaoundé THE NORTH WEST PROVINCE GEOGRAPHICALLY is the north of Western Cameroon. It has about 2.7 million inhabitants. The provincial capital is Bamenda. The people are very hard working, with a rich and vibrant culture. It is one of the two English speaking provinces in Cameroon, the coastal South West that also borders with Nigeria being its only Anglophone sister. North West Province is in the grasslands of Cameroon, and has two main seasons – the dry season starts around the end of October and continues until rains start in the middle or end of March. November through February is the best time to visit. The landscape is hilly, with deep valleys, and occasional plains, the scenery is breath-taking, throughout the year. After Cameroon’s independence the province became a major player in the political history of the country, producing some of the most towering statesmen that Cameroon has ever had. They include, amongst others, the late Honourables Augustin Ngom Jua, John Ngu Foncha and Soloman Tandeng Muna. The province is known for her rich, unique and diverse cultural heritage - a heritage which, over the years, has been jealously protected. It is one feature that distinguishes the NW from the other provinces of Cameroon, and notable that in other regions most traditional culture was either rooted out or watered down by colonial influence and religions, be they Christian or Muslim.
