POSITION DESCRIPTION 2021/22 Junior Girls Coaching Coordinator FRANKSTON BLUES BASKETBALL CLUB THE PROGRAM: The Frankston Blues basketball Club (Program) is the representative basketball program of the Frankston & District Basketball Association (Frankston Basketball). The Blues program includes over 40 junior teams & 4 senior teams which compete in Basketball Victoria's (BV) Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL/Juniors), Big V (23 and Under) and NBL1 South (Seniors). Junior team age groups range from U12 - U21 boys & girls with team selection try-outs taking place each October. In the 2020/21 season we will have approximately 450 players represent Frankston Basketball as part of the Blues program making the Blues one of the largest sporting clubs on the Mornington Peninsula. The Blues program has produced many state, national and international level players and coaches including recent Australian Men's Basketball Team (Boomers) representatives David Andersen and Ryan Broekhoff. With a commitment of being a resource-rich program, the Frankston Blues is focused on the ethos of continual improvement and providing a culture of high-performance and an environment which supports athletes & coaches reaching their potential. The Blues program is underpinned by the dedicated work of key volunteers who assist in the administration and effective running of the program. POSITION TITLE: Junior Girls Coaching Coordinator FUNCTIONAL MANAGER: FDBA Basketball Development Manager EMPLOYMENT LOCATIONS: • Frankston Basketball Stadium (Seaford) Primary Location • Elizabeth Murdoch College (Langwarrin) Satellite Venue • VJBL Competition venues (Various) Metro & Regional Vic SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS: • Understanding of Basketball Victoria & Basketball Australia athlete pathway and associated programs • Experience with Basketball Victoria & VJBL coach education program • Strong conflict resolution skills • Proven people management and leadership skills • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively within a team • Experience with HUDL software • Microsoft Office suite of products • Level 1 First Aid (preferred) • Working With Children check POSITION OVERVIEW: As a key member of the Frankston Blues High Performance program, the Junior Girls Coaching Coordinator is a critical position in the Frankston Junior Blues program. With a focus on facilitating coach education by working with the Basketball Development Manager (BDM), Junior Boys Coaching Coordinator and Senior Coaches to implement a program plan which resources coaches; athletes; and parents in an integrated, proactive and one-club methodology. As coordinator you will be the touch point for all Junior Girls coaches in regards to: • the implementation of program plan & club policy • support club administration • assist in modelling & implementing training schedules • support the building of a high performance culture • manage coach (on-court) specific concerns from parent body • Identify and administer various athlete development & HP pathway programs including (state/national camps, SDP & NPP) The right candidate will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the overall success of the Frankston Blues program, work autonomously within a team environment, demonstrate strong values and provide initiatives that support the continued development of coaches and players. POSITION STRUCTURE: • Member of Frankston Blues High Performance Sub-committee o Meetings conducted periodically with Basketball Development Manager, Junior Boys Coaching Coordinator, S&C Coordinator and Senior Coaches • Support the development & implementation of Junior Girls segment of the Blues Program Plan o 12mth schedule o Coach / athlete / parent development programs o Athlete load management o On-court / Off-court resourcing o Big V/NBL1 alignment o Tournament Policy • Lead the Junior Blues Girls tryout and selection process (September-December) • Help facilitate the Future Blues/Double Bottom Age (DBA) process (May/June) • Maintain periodic age group, gender specific depth charts for Junior Blues Girls • Liaise with governing bodies regarding high performance pathway programs and camp selection • Attend & support Junior Blues training sessions as part of weekly training schedule implementing standardized training plans and key areas of focus as per Program Plan • Attend & support Junior Blues game night while compiling periodic coach assessments (VJBL season) • Provide monthly segment reports for BDM to be collated and presented at FDBA Board meetings • Support the process of grievance and issue resolution within the Junior Blues Girls program KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: • Establishment and successful implementation of Blues Program Plan • VJBL Team Performance (improvement) indicators o Overall strength and depth across age groups o VC qualification at each age group • Coach personnel records including coach reviews and development plans • Players selected into BV/BA High Performance pathways • Successfully managing various stakeholder groups • Attendance at all club related functions • Compliance to acting in a reasonable manner with the values and best interests of the FDBA & Frankston Blues program top of mind APPOINTMENT TERMS: • This role is offered on a 12mth basis and will include mid and post-season review REMUNERATION: • Remuneration offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the applicant.
