Welcome from the President Welcome to the 2021 Big V Season for Diamond Valley’S Youth League Women’S and Men’S Teams Welcome from the President Welcome to the 2021 Big V season for Diamond Valley’s Youth League Women’s and Men’s teams. It is fantastic that basketball is finally back after the year we had last year. A big welcome to all our coaches, players, parents, members and fans and we look forward to an exciting season of basketball! Our Youth League Women’s team returns this season under new coach Angelka Coter who will be assisted by Nathan Batchelor. Angelka and Nathan currently coach our Under 18-1 girls VJBL team and it is great to see them both now involved at the Youth League level to help manage the progression of our players from juniors to Youth League. Our Youth League Men’s team returns this season under new coach Dylan Theis who will be assisted by one of Diamond Valleys favourites in Marcus Todd. Both teams enjoyed great wins in our most recent practice games and we are excited about the prospects of both teams for 2021. Much off-court work has gone into the pre-season and I thank our staff, coaches, players, volunteers and supporters who have helped make this weekend’s opening round happen. The Youth League program provides an important opportunity for our up and coming players to improve their basketball and graduate to the next stage of their careers. We hope you enjoy watching and supporting the Diamond Valley Eagles in 2021. Finally the time is here, for our Youth League Championship Women to step out on to the floor and showcase the young and bright talent our women’s program has to offer. After putting in months of hard work to bring this squad together, it’s also safe to say that the excitement is extended to the coaching staff, who very proudly stand alongside a mixture of new and returning players, all of whom come together in unity to participate in the sport they love and represent the Diamond Valley Basketball Association with pride. To start the season we have drawn Keilor and Altona in a double header weekend, and both teams are strong and competitive sides. But the focus has been over the coming weeks to rise to the challenges that any game throws at us and to play our own brand of basketball. With a healthy mix of returning and debuting players, we are hoping to be able to showcase the work we have been putting in for the past few months and represent the Diamond Valley Basketball Association family with pride. While we will miss the friendly confines of DVSFC while it is under renovation, we look forward to making Community Bank Stadium a place where Eagles community members feel welcome and enjoy watching the passion and competitive fire with which our men will play with. Our coaching staff is very proud of the adversity the guys have overcome this past year and are hoping to match the desire with which they have attacked our pre-season, and cannot wait to see the unbridled enthusiasm for the game brought back onto the court after the long layoff.
