You can do a painting or use colors in your readings, it´s easy and fun, and gives your (SE) session a new dimension. Ann Robson (UK) Experimenting with Join Ann as she helps the students explore and experiment with their mediumship. She promises it will be quite fun! Mediumship Steve Vogel (USA) Psychometry Have you ever touched someone or something and gotten some kind of message – an idea, an image or picture or even words? While shopping in an antique store or a second-hand shop, do you pick up impressions about certain pieces? If so, you are experiencing psychometry. In this experiential workshop participants will learn about psychometry, how it works, and will get to practice doing it. There will be blind test objects in a velvet bag for everyone to experiment with. In addition, please bring in one or more common personal objects of your own or that you know the history of for all of us to practice with. Wednesday Topic Description 9:30-11:00 am Coral Ryder (UK) Demonstration of As a medium, Coral will link with the world of Spirit as you watch the face of the communicator appear before your eyes. Spirit Art Robin Hodson (UK) Precipitated Art- A rare and unique form of mediumship, precipitated art. Works of art that were produced without brushes, painting implements, Lecture even without the mediums touching the canvas. In this illustrated lecture, we look at the background and work of the Bangs Sisters and the Campbell Brothers amazing mediumship. A very different look at art produced entirely by Spirit. Hampi van de Velde Trance Healing The idea behind the compact workshop is simple: open your door to the spiritual world. Hampi shows during the workshop how it (CH) works and explains – by means of practical exercises – how each person can activate their healing powers and self-healing powers and realize their own potential – with the help of trance healing techniques and the spirit world. The aim of the workshop is that each participant perceives the presence of the spiritual world on the physical body and has experienced the first experiences of cooperation.     The Mediumship of the Bangs Sisters and an examination of their precipitated Spirit Portraits. Part I. By N. Riley Heagerty It is August, the year is 1911. A large audience has filled to capacity the auditorium at the world famous Chesterfield Spiritualist Camp in the State of Indiana, America. They have come to witness a demonstration of psychic power, one of the most unique and marvellous in the entire world. A select committee has arranged beforehand that upon entering the building, all have been given a numbered ticket, the stub of which is torn off and put into a large vat to be thoroughly mixed up; later on, one stub will be randomly drawn from the collection. Now, after a close examination by the committee to see that there are no markings or paint of any kind, or signs of chemical treatment, a large plain canvas is placed on an easel in the centre of the stage. The spirit mediums who will demonstrate the phenomena now enter the auditorium, they are sisters and appear to be about 35 to 40 years of age. Both take their seats on the rostrum, one situated on each side of the easel and clearly four to five feet from it; they will never touch the canvas throughout the entire demonstration. A member of the committee now reaches in and selects from the vat one ticket stub and reads the number aloud to the audience; it belongs to a Mrs Alice Alford. Mrs Alford and her husband are now invited to come up and take a seat on the stage; they will be sitting for a portrait but in this particular instance the painting will not be of the Alfords; the artist and the subject of this session are from another dimension; the world of Spirits.

    Ecstatic Space NEO-KUT and Shamanic Technologies A thesis submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy by Haein Song Department of Arts and Humanities College of Business, Arts and Social Sciences Brunel University, London May 2018 Abstract The present thesis formulates an approach towards ecstatic space in the context of a combined performance of kut, a Korean shamanic performance ritual, and digital practices. Here, the coined term, ecstatic space, is not confined to the mental state or spiritual sphere of shamans in a trance but indicates an alternative and metaphoric environment mediatised by ecstatic technology – a vehicle for conjuring the mythical worlds of kut via shamanic media including divine objects, dancing and singing rituals. This research also adopts digital technology, a modern approach for accessing imaginary virtual space through digital media, especially technical images – the technologically produced and programmed/computational images. Ecstatic space enables the creation of interstitial and fecund space situated between performer/audience reality and imaginary spheres, representing the technological aesthetics in- between kut and digital performance. This enabling is theoretically and historically grounded in media and performance/ritual frameworks that are explored in the early chapters of the thesis. Ecstatic space contextualises through the careful exposition of Korean scholarship on kut, and shamanic performance rituals read and interpreted alongside international performance/cultural studies and media theories including Vilém Flusser, Marshall McLuhan, Guy Debord, Roy Ascott and others. My methodologies of creating ecstatic space are formulated by investigating the artistic potential of an interpenetrative relationship between these two technologies. The five core SUI (Shamanic User Interface) designs of kut are identified to outline an embodied understanding of the ecstatic technology.

It arises from active listening, by a person committed to Christian faith and life, to another very different faith tradition, that of shamanism. In terms of method, the work occurs in the second person more than in the third. Listening to another tradition cannot be done with proper respect if the basic orientation is towards setting out the facts of the case from the supposedly universal viewpoint of the author. In dialogue, more than one view can be presented in its own terms. This allows for the possibility of meeting the alien tradition at its strongest rather than at its weakest point. This allows us to reflect on what we hear in terms of what it shows us about our own shadow. Active listening leads to active imagining of how to make sense of what we hear.

    Volunteer & Docent Training Manual Docent Program What is a docent? Docents are dedicated volunteers whose primary responsibility is to inform, instruct, and interpret the art collections and objects contained in the Hett Art Gallery and Museum for our visitors. Docents provide group learning experiences in the form of museum tours, demonstrations, or instruction in special interest areas that pertain to the museum’s collections and exhibits and history of Spiritualism. They guide tours, give talks, serve at special events, and answer visitors’ questions regarding our museum, campgrounds, historical displays, and gardens. Docents may be considered to be “ambassadors” not only for the Hett Art Gallery Museum and historic Camp Chesterfield, but also for the IAOS and Spiritualism at large. The Hett Art Gallery and Museum Docent Program provides the following services: School Group Tours Tours for school groups are conducted on a prescheduled basis and are designed to supplement the classroom curriculum or accommodate a specific study interest. Special Interest Tours Special interest tours, demonstrations, and hands-on activity areas offer an in-depth look at an exhibition, a collection, or a discipline. These must be prescheduled. Popular Highlights Tours Highlights tours are generally available to the public on a walk-in basis when the museum is open to the public and these provide an overview of some of the more outstanding, popular and significant museum pieces in our exhibits. Outreach Programs Outreach programs – currently in development – will "take the Hett Art Gallery and Museum and the significance of Spiritualism" to interested organizations, such as schools and community groups.
