AGREEMENT' BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF PAKISTAN AND THE GOVERNMENT OF SWEDEN RELATING TO AIR SERVICES. SIGNED AT KARACHI, ON 6 MAY 1948 The Government of Pakistan and the Government of Sweden hereinafter described as the Contracting Parties, Being parties to the Convention' on International Civil Aviation and the International Air Services Transit Agreement both opened for signature at Chicago on the 7th day of December 1944, and Desiring to conclude an agreement for the purpose of establishing and operating air services between and beyond the territories of Pakistan and Sweden, Agree as follows: Article I (A) Each Contracting Party grants to the other Contracting Party the right to operate the air services specified in the Annex to this Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the "specified air services") and to carry traffic to, from and in transit over its territory as provided in this Agreement. (B) The airlines designated as provided in Article II hereof shall have the right to use (i) for traffic purposes, airports provided for public use at the points specified in the Annex to this Agreement and ancillary services provided for public use on the air routes specified in the said Annex (hereinafter referred to as the "specified air routes") and (ii) for non-traffic purposes, all airports and ancillary services provided for public use on the specified- air routes, provided that the places of first landing and final departure shall be customs airports. Abstract The Third Battle of Ypres was officially terminated by Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig with the opening of the Battle of Cambrai on 20 November 1917. Nevertheless, a comparatively unknown set-piece attack – the only large-scale night operation carried out on the Flanders front during the campaign – was launched twelve days later on 2 December. This thesis, a necessary corrective to published campaign narratives of what has become popularly known as „Passchendaele‟, examines the course of events from the mid-November decision to sanction further offensive activity in the vicinity of Passchendaele village to the barren operational outcome that forced British GHQ to halt the attack within ten hours of Zero. A litany of unfortunate decisions and circumstances contributed to the profitless result.

    BEGRAAFPLAATSEN EN GEMEENTEN De Antwerpse registers van doodsoorzaken vermelden vanaf 1925 de locaties waar de overledenen zijn begraven. Ambtenaren van de Burgerlijke Stand registreerden vanaf dat jaar de laatste rustplaats van elke overledene in een afzonderlijke kolom. In geval deze plaats zich buiten de stad Antwerpen bevond, noteerden ze de naam van de gemeente waar het stoffelijk overschot werd bijgezet. Ook vóór 1925 komen sporadisch gemeentenamen in de registers voor. De meeste van deze namen staan in de kolom Aanmerkingen bij personen die in Antwerpen stierven en elders hun officiële verblijfplaats hadden. 1. Veel voorkomende begraafplaatsen In de onderstaande lijst worden de namen vermeld van de meest voorkomende begraafplaatsen in de registers. De belangrijkste rustplaats was het Schoonselhof dat op 1 september 1921 officieel werd geopend en het Kiel als stedelijke begraafplaats verving. In tweede instantie zijn de gemeenten uit de Antwerpse agglomeratie goed vertegenwoordigd in deze lijst. It brings to life the experiences of many Old Boys who died at Gallipoli and some who survived, only to be fatally wounded in the trenches or no-man’s land of the western front. Wesley annually honoured these names, even after the Second World War was over. The silence in Adamson Hall as name after name was read aloud, almost like a slow drum beat, is still in the mind, some seventy or more years later. The messages written by these young men, or about them, are evocative. Even the more humdrum and everyday letters capture, above the noise and tension, the courage.
