State of Illinois Bruce Rauner, Governor Illinois Department of Transportation Randall S. Blankenhorn, Secretary FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: August 20, 2015 Guy Tridgell 312.793.4199 Weekend Closures for Byrne Flyover Work Start Friday CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation today reminded motorists that four weekends of lane closures on the expressway system surrounding the Jane Byrne Interchange in Chicago will begin this Friday. “We have worked closely with the City of Chicago to make sure these upcoming weekends run as smoothly as possible,” said Illinois Transportation Secretary Randy Blankenhorn. “We wish to stress that Chicago remains open for business and people should continue to enjoy all the city has to offer. But they do need to plan accordingly, account for some longer travel times and should strongly consider taking alternate routes or public transportation, especially if they are driving during the overnight hours.” The closures are necessary for the installation of steel beams that will support the deck of the new flyover bridge linking the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway (westbound Interstate 90/94) to the outbound Eisenhower Expressway (westbound Interstate 290), part of the larger overhaul of the Jane Byrne Interchange. To stage and store equipment and materials, the inbound Kennedy Expressway (eastbound Interstate 90/94) ramp to inbound Congress Parkway closed Wednesday night and will remain closed until Aug. 31. A detour route is posted utilizing the Roosevelt Road exit, Jefferson Street, Harrison Street and Wells Street to connect with Congress Parkway. Over the next two weekends, the following ramps and lanes will be closed, weather permitting: Aug.

Blankenhorn, Secretary FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: November 27, 2017 Gianna Urgo 312.814.4693 Guy Tridgell 312.793.4199 Public Meeting for Updated I-55 Managed Lanes Project CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a public meeting Dec. 6 to share updates and collect feedback on proposed changes to the Interstate 55 managed lanes project. The department recently updated the project plans to include a second managed lane in each direction of I-55 between Interstate 294 (Tri-State Tollway) and Interstate 90/94 (Dan Ryan Expressway). The meeting will be in an open-house format at the following time and location: Wednesday, Dec. 6 4 – 7 p.m. Toyota Park Stadium Club 7000 Harlem Ave. Bridgeview, Ill. 60455 The state received federal approval in 2016 to build one managed lane in each direction of I-55 between Interstate 355 near Bolingbrook to I-90/94 in Chicago. The revised project proposes to add the second managed lane north of the Tri-State Tollway within the existing IDOT right of way. The additional capacity will make it easier to maintain consistent, reliable speeds and travel times for all I-55 users. No funding has been identified for construction, but IDOT continues to pursue the project as a public-private partnership. Exhibits will be on display and an audio-visual presentation will be shown continuously during the meeting. Project team members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. Written comments can be submitted at the meeting, mailed afterward or submitted via the project website www.i55managedlaneproject.org.

  • Aries Real Estate Acquisitions, LLC Is Looking Forward to Working with The
Aries Real Estate Acquisitions, LLC is looking forward to working with the Village of Deerfield, once again, for the site at the Southeast corner of Waukegan and Lake Cook Road. We are seeking a Special Use Permit for the operation of a Walgreens Pharmacy on the North endcap of the Multi-tenant building previously approved for the site at 95 S. Waukegan Road. Walgreens has requested that we seek such approval for a new “Small Format” store that will occupy the northernmost 2,496 square feet of the approved 8,000 square foot building. This site will be the 44th such small format store that Walgreens is seeking to build in the United States. There are currently 23 small format stores open with another 20 in Walgreens’ pipeline. The closest small format store that is open is in Markham, IL and has been open since August. The small format concept is relatively new for Walgreens but is something they are continuing to open throughout the country. The store will look and function exactly the same as the Walgreens stores everyone is accustomed to seeing, however it will have a stronger focus on Health and Wellness products. The store will contain a full pharmacy with a variety of other products typically seen near the pharmacy counter in a Walgreens store. The drive-through facility will function exactly the same as a typical Walgreens serving only pharmacy products through the window. Expected hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm. Their expected peak times are between 2 and 3pm.

Pagano, Executive Director TO FRIENDS OF COMMUTER RAIL: Chairman’s Welcome to Metra’s 2002 Program and Budget. It Message describes good news such as further ridership growth, steady progress on our three New Start projects, and ongoing capital improvements including orders for badly needed new cars and locomotives. Meanwhile, the costs of providing safe, reliable, convenient and comfortable commuter rail service have steadily increased. Thus, our proposed 2002 operating budget envisions our first fare increase in six years, 5%, which will likely take effect June 1. I think it’s important to note that this will be only the fourth fare increase in the 18 years of Metra’s management of the Northeast Illinois commuter rail system. And it will be only the third one for operations. A fare hike that took effect in 1989 was dedicated solely to capital projects, namely the physical improvements that preserve and improve our serv- ice — and in turn reduce operating costs.
