WLIW21’s new local production Long Island Business Report premieres Tuesday, May 1 at 10:30 p.m. and provides an in-depth look at what needs to be done to make Long Island a better place to live and work by exploring the economic and business trends that impact the nearly 3 million people who call Nassau and Suffolk counties home. Anchored and executive produced by Emmy Award-winning journalist Jim Paymar ( Business Week, CNBC, WABC-TV, WCBS-TV, WNBC-TV), Long Island Business Report features area business leaders and industry experts discussing what is driving the economy and what is expected of Long Island going forward.

In the half-hour special, Executive Producer and Anchor Jim Paymar investigates the Fortune 1000 companies on Long Island, the cost of doing business, the cost of living, the state of Long Island’s infrastructure and the efforts to rebuild and revitalize its downtown areas. Guests Kevin Law, president of the Long Island Association; Lawrence Levy, award-winning journalist and executive dean of the National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University; and Nancy Rauch Douzinas, president of the Rauch Foundation, discuss issues including the quality of life on Long Island, the economy and what must be done to improve Long Island’s business infrastructure.
