Kevin Kisner headlines PGA TOUR winners committed to The Greenbrier Classic
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – (June xx, 2017): Dean & Deluca Invitational winner Kevin Kisner headlines a list of eight winners on the PGA TOUR this season who have committed to play in The Greenbrier Classic July 3-9 on the restored Old White TPC Course at The Greenbrier. “We’re really excited about how the field is coming together,” said Habibi Mamone, Executive Tournament Director, The Greenbrier Classic. “We’re going to have an extremely competitive field with some of the best golfers in the world competing for The Springhouse Trophy.” Ranked No. 19 in the Official World Golf Rankings, Kisner captured his second PGA TOUR victory at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, with a 10-under score of 270, one shot ahead of both Jordan Spieth and Jon Rahm. Kisner previously won the RSM Classic in 2015. In 17 events this season, he’s finished in the top 25 10 times, including six top 10s. The Aiken, S.C., native is currently sixth in the FedExCup Rankings. Si Woo Kim became the youngest player ever to win The Players Championship when he won by three strokes this past May at the age of 21. It was his second PGA TOUR victory after capturing the Wyndham Championship last August. The South Korean is currently 23rd in the FedExCup Rankings and 31st in the Official World Golf Rankings. The PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year in 2009, Marc Leishman won for the first time since 2012 when he hoisted the trophy at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. The 33-year-old Australian is 14th in the FedExCup Rankings and 37th in the Official World Golf Rankings. Jonas Blixt is not only the 2013 Greenbrier Classic champion, he also teamed with Cameron Smith to win the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this past May. It was his third PGA TOUR victory, the 2012 Frys.com Open the other. The 33-year-old native of Sweden has four top 25 finishes this season. D.A. Points won this third PGA TOUR title in March when he claimed the Puerto Rico Open. The 40-year-old University of Illinois graduate has three top 25 finishes this season. University of Georgia graduate Brian Harman won the Wells Fargo Championship in May for his second PGA TOUR victory. He previously won the John Deere Classic in 2014. Currently 10th in the FedExCup Rankings, Harman has 10 top 25 finishes in 20 starts this season. Canadian Mackenzie Hughes won the RSM Classic this past November for his first PGA TOUR victory. Rod Pampling, a 47-year-old Australian, won the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in November for his third PGA TOUR victory and first since 2006. These eight champions join five-time Major champion Phil Mickelson, two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson and two-time Major champion John Daly in The Greenbrier Classic field.
