Byron Nelson’s golf achievements are well documented — 52 professional victories, five major championships, and an impressive year of 18 victories in 1945, highlighted by an unprecedented 11 wins in a row. What was even more impressive about Nelson was his reputation as a role model built upon character, integrity and faith.

Nelson spent his life promoting the game of golf and the values that are instilled through it. He dedicated himself to mentoring young players as they pursued this competitive career, offering advice about playing golf and demonstrating good sportsmanship and humility. It’s this “balance of life” that is reflected in the Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Awards. General Information The Byron Nelson International Junior Golf Awards recognize the achievements of junior golfers around the world. Young athletes who distinguish themselves with a high level of junior tournament play as well as excellence in academics, a commitment to community service and exceptional character will be selected.

The awards ceremony will be held during the 2014 HP Byron Nelson Championship, May 12-18. The award recipients will attend the Championship to experience a PGA TOUR event, meet PGA TOUR professionals and get an in-depth, behind the scenes glimpse of what it takes to operate a professional golf event and the rewards such an event brings to the community.

Travel Information Round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and meal expenses will be provided for each award recipient and up to two adult guests, one of whom must be a parent or legal guardian. All transportation will be arranged by the Championship.

Nominee must be 14–18 years old Nomination forms are available at (not yet enrolled in college) hpbnc.org/juniorawards Qualifications: Recipients are expected to attend the  High-level competitive junior tournament play 2014 Byron Nelson International Junior  Achievement in academics Golf Awards events in Irving, Texas,  Participation in civic, community, church during 2014 Championship. or other volunteer service

 Character, integrity and sportsmanship

Past winners have gone on to win a PGA TOUR event, major junior events such as the USGA Junior Amateur Championship, the Callaway Junior World Championship and competed in international competition in the . Several have achieved AJGA All-American status, as well as received scholarships to play for major Division 1 universities.
