Interview Transcript: Tom Watson
INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: TOM WATSON Wednesday, June 22, 2011 MODERATOR: I'd like to welcome Tom Watson to the Dick's Sporting Goods Open, his first visit back to En-Joie since 1976. Tom, coming off of a big win about a month ago at the Senior PGA Championship, maybe just get us started, talk about that, and then where your game is right now. TOM WATSON: Well, thanks. My game is actually in pretty good shape right now. I played in a tournament that I started in Kansas City five years ago called the Watson Challenge, trying to determine the best player we can in the city. It's only for the Kansas City golfers, the amateurs and the pros. We had the tournament there and I ended up winning that tournament and still kept the challenge alive. Why can't anybody beat a 61-year old, broken-down pro? I actually played pretty well, drove the ball well there, that's -- I'm playing pretty well right now. On this golf course, you have to drive the ball well, and if you don't drive the ball well, you're going to get into the rough and you're going to be -- make a lot of bogeys on this kind of course. It's in excellent shape. I'm probably at somewhat of a disadvantage because I haven't played this course, I don't remember it, since 1976 and a lot of the players who have played it the last four years on our Tour, so I hope to get to know it a little bit better and I have a chance at the end of Sunday to have a chance to win. -
Callaway Staff Professional Henrik Stenson Wins the Open, Is Champion Golfer of the Year
Callaway Staff Professional Henrik Stenson Wins The Open, Is Champion Golfer Of The Year July 18, 2016 Stenson Uses a Full Bag of Callaway Clubs and an Odyssey Putter In a Performance of a Lifetime CARLSBAD, Calif., July 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY), an industry leader in innovative golf equipment and technology, announced today that Staff Professional Henrik Stenson used a full bag of Callaway clubs and an Odyssey putter en route to winning The Open in spectacular fashion yesterday at Royal Troon in Scotland. Stenson carded a 63 on Sunday, which included 10 birdies, to tie the lowest final round score in major championship history. And by carding a cumulative score of 264 over the week (with rounds of 68-65-68-63), Stenson set the record for lowest cumulative score ever in a major championship. Henrik Stenson's bag featured a 9-degree XR 16 Driver, Callaway's flagship driver that was used by Danny Willett in his major victory in Augusta this April, and also used by Lydia Ko (an XR 16 Pro Driver) in her major triumph at the ANA Inspiration earlier this year. For the XR 16 Driver, Callaway worked with a team of experts at Boeing to redefine what is possible with aerodynamics and ball speed. Callaway engineered its most forgiving shape ever and Boeing made it fast with a re-engineered Speed Step Crown. Additionally, at The Open, Stenson used his Odyssey #7 Putter to roll in the biggest putts of his career in the final round. This is already the 6th major championship victory this year for Odyssey, the most by any putter company this season. -

The Open Is the Oldest of the Four Major Championships in Professional Golf and the Only One Contested Outside the United States
The Open is the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf and the only one contested outside the United States. Always played on a coastal ‘links’ course, there are now ten courses on the rota, five in Scotland. This unforgettable tour will take you to each of the five Open Venues in Scotland to experience for yourself the challenges faced by the world’s top golfers at the toughest major of them all. Along the way your guide will discuss other places of interest with you, exploring the glorious scenery and history of the surrounding area. There will be plenty of stops for refreshments, and ‘retail therapy – the choice is yours! Located 45 minutes’ East of Edinburgh, Muirfield is home of ‘The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers’, and a ‘men only’ club until March 2017. Having rejected the idea of women members in May 2016 and been briefly removed from the Open rota, the members re-considered their position and agreed to ‘welcome women to their waiting list’. Considered to be the fairest test of all the Open venues, there are fewer quirky bounces and hidden dangers than most links courses contain, though tall heather, blind shots and deep bunkers are still there to ‘punish’ bad shots. The challenge lies in the layout of the course. Most links courses run along the coast and then back again. Muirfield, is arranged as two loops of nine holes, one clockwise, one anticlockwise. This means every hole on the course has a different wind direction from the tee. No more than three consecutive holes follow the same direction at any stage. -
COLIN MONTGOMERIE Thursday, February 13, 2014
PRE-TOURNAMENT INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: COLIN MONTGOMERIE Thursday, February 13, 2014 DAVE SENKO: Well, Colin, thanks for joining us. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Not at all, thank you. DAVE SENKO: A T-10 last week. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: T-10, that's what you call it over here. DAVE SENKO: And you had kind of -- you were all over the world prior to that. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Yes, I was. DAVE SENKO: Maybe fill us in on the last few weeks, I know you were in South Africa. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Sure we started in South Africa in January, then we moved on to the Middle East for three tournaments there. Then across to Florida from the Middle East, which is a nine hour time difference and I really took a long -- I'm taking longer as I get older to get over the jet lag. I used to be quite good at it 25 years ago, but now it's taking longer so hopefully this week I can do better than T-10 as they say. That's tied. We would call it 10th equal, you call it T-10. It's the same, just a different wording. You've changed it. DAVE SENKO: How did you play last week? COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Yeah, I mean, you've got to -- I found, I keep on saying this, if I ever underestimated anything, it's the standard of play out here. The standard of play is extremely good. I didn't see 60 last week. I must admit that was a fantastic score for Michael Allen and all credit to him for hanging on. -
