WEEKLY “NOTES & NUGGETS” FROM THE PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME DAVID BAKER TRAVELING TO IN SEARCH OF HISTORY; NFL ’ HISTORY-MAKING FIRSTS PRESERVED IN CANTON

CANTON, OHIO – The following is a sampling of events, happenings and notes that highlight how the Pro Football Hall of Fame serves its important mission to “Honor the Heroes of the Game, Preserve its History, Promote its Values & Celebrate Excellence EVERYWHERE!”

NEW ARTIFACTS The Pro Football Hall of Fame is home to the world’s largest collection on pro football in the world. Each year, the collection grows as artifacts from milestone moments from the current NFL season arrive in Canton. Many of these artifacts are already on display in the Hall’s Pro Football Today Gallery:

The Hall of Fame received two significant jerseys this week that were worn during history-making moments.

• The jersey worn by Ryan Fitzpatrick when he became the first in NFL history to throw for 400 yards in three consecutive games. This feat was completed in Week 3 during the game against the .

• The jersey worn by when he became the first player in NFL history to throw 10 touchdown passes through his team’s first two games of the season. This feat was accomplished in Week 2 during the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

CAREER PASSING YARDAGE RECORD IN SIGHT FOR BREES New Orleans Saints quarterback needs 201 yards to surpass (71,940) as the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards. In anticipation of the record-breaking moment, the Hall’s President & CEO David Baker will travel to New Orleans on Monday, Oct. 8 as the Saints host the Washington Redskins at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Baker will be on the sidelines ready to collect the football from the historic milestone.

The Hall of Fame’s collection includes artifacts from the previous quarterbacks when they claimed the esteemed record for career passing yards.

• Peyton Manning … the football he threw on Nov. 15, 2015 against the Kansas City Chiefs • … the jersey, shoulder pads, pants, socks, wristband, hand towel and helmet worn on Dec. 16, 2007 against the St. Louis Rams • … the football he threw on Nov. 12, 1995 against the • FRAN TARKENTON … the football he threw on Oct. 31, 1976 against the

HEART OF A HALL OF FAMER The Heart of a Hall of Famer series, part of the Hall of Fame’s Youth & Education programming, provides students the opportunity to learn first-hand what it took beyond athletic ability for legendary Heroes of the Game to achieve success on and off the field. The program focuses on the Hall of Fame’s values: Commitment, Integrity, Courage, Respect and Excellence.

This past Wednesday, the first remote Heart of a Hall of Famer of the school year took place with Gold Jacket JOE DeLAMIELLEURE at Pleasant Knoll Middle School (Fort Mill, S.C.). DeLamielleure was hosted by his daughter Alison Coyne who is a 7th grade science teacher at the school. More than 200 students from five additional schools connected in via Facebook Live, including Zenith Elementary (Cut Bank, Mont.), Glades Central High School (Belle Glade, Fla.), Jamestown (N.Y.) High School; Sinclairville (N.Y.) Elementary, and Lakewood (Ohio) High School.

: WILLIE McGINEST” The Pro Football Hall of Fame will have screenings of NFL Network’s “A Football Life” this Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6. Showcasing the lives and careers of legendary players, coaches and executives, NFL Films examines the untold stories of the most influential NFL icons with

unprecedented access. Each documentary tells the story of how their legacy is forever intertwined into the fabric of NFL history.

NFL Legend Willie McGinest will be featured on “A Football Life” this week. Screenings will take place in the Hall’s Gold Jacket Lounge at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
