The previous record was 242 players with at least one reception, which was set in Week 12 last season. -- NFL -- ALL-TIME PASSERS: New York Giants quarterback ELI MANNING passed for 368 yards in the Giants’ 16-13 win over New Orleans. Manning has 44,762 career passing yards, surpassing DREW BLEDSOE (44,611) to move into 10th place in NFL history. New Orleans quarterback DREW BREES passed for 263 yards in Week 2 and now has 61,589 career passing yards, surpassing Pro Football Hall of Famer DAN MARINO (61,361) for the third-most in NFL history. Boldin joined TERRELL OWENS as the only players in NFL history to have at least 1,000 receptions (1,016) and record a touchdown catch with four different teams (Arizona, San Francisco, Baltimore and Detroit). Titans wide receiver ANDRE JOHNSON had a touchdown reception in the Titans’ 16-15 win over Detroit. Johnson, who has 1,057 career catches, has recorded a touchdown reception with three different teams (Houston, Indianapolis and Tennessee) and joined Boldin, Owens and Pro Football Hall of Famers JERRY RICE and CRIS CARTER as the only players in NFL history to accomplish the feat. -- NFL -- HISTORIC WATT: Houston defensive end J.J. WATT recorded 1.5 sacks in the Texans’ 19-12 win over Kansas City in Week 2. Watt has 76 sacks in 82 career games and is the second-fastest player to reach 75 sacks since the sack became an official statistic in 1982. It marked the first game in NFL history in which a tight end on each team had a touchdown catch of at least 75 yards. -- NFL -- WENTZ’S WONDERFUL START: Philadelphia rookie quarterback CARSON WENTZ passed for 190 yards with a touchdown and zero interceptions in the Eagles’ 29-14 victory against Chicago on Monday Night Football. Wentz joins Pro Football Hall of Famer JOHN ELWAY, RYAN LEAF, JOE FLACCO and MARK SANCHEZ as the only rookie quarterbacks since 1970 to win their first two starts to begin a season. Wentz, who passed for 278 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions in Philadelphia’s Kickoff Weekend win, is the first rookie quarterback since 1970 to start and win the first two games of the season without throwing an interception. Is there anyone speaking out against Joe Burrow as a top QB prospect? Does anyone even doubt that he’s the #1 pick in the draft (not necessarily admitting he’s the best player, just that he will be the #1 pick)? So, what more could I add to the Burrow lovefest of 2020? If I say that I’m very much a Burrow fan for the next level, pro-Burrow as a scout – well then there’s some intrigue taken out of this report already. Just another guy singing Burrow’s praises, big deal! However, despite any desire I might have to surprise you with a controversial take on Burrow, I’m just not finding any reason for a controversial, contrarian call for him as a bust. Not at all. The only real intrigue remaining with Burrow, for scouts and fans – just how good is Joe Burrow? As I was researching background for this report, I was watching some media segments and commentary, post-National Title game. One that caught my eye/ear was Colin Cowherd trying to classify/comp Burrow. He had top CFB analyst Joel Klatt on his show, and Klatt, in full seriousness, compared Burrow to Joe Montana… which makes some sense the more you think of it. The following day, on his show, Cowherd compared Burrow to Tony Romo…a quarterback Colin holds in high regard, so it was a nice comp, even if not quite as glowing as Klatt’s Montana call.

    PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2019-2020 EDITIOn PHILADELPHIA EAGLES Team History The Eagles have been a Philadelphia institution since their beginning in 1933 when a syndicate headed by the late Bert Bell and Lud Wray purchased the former Frankford Yellowjackets franchise for $2,500. In 1941, a unique swap took place between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that saw the clubs trade home cities with Alexis Thompson becoming the Eagles owner. In 1943, the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh franchises combined for one season due to the manpower shortage created by World War II. The team was called both Phil-Pitt and the Steagles. Greasy Neale of the Eagles and Walt Kiesling of the Steelers were co-coaches and the team finished 5-4-1. Counting the 1943 season, Neale coached the Eagles for 10 seasons and he led them to their first significant successes in the NFL. Paced by such future Pro Football Hall of Fame members as running back Steve Van Buren, center-linebacker Alex Wojciechowicz, end Pete Pihos and beginning in 1949, center-linebacker Chuck Bednarik, the Eagles dominated the league for six seasons. They finished second in the NFL Eastern division in 1944, 1945 and 1946, won the division title in 1947 and then scored successive shutout victories in the 1948 and 1949 championship games. A rash of injuries ended Philadelphia’s era of domination and, by 1958, the Eagles had fallen to last place in their division. That year, however, saw the start of a rebuilding program by a new coach, Buck Shaw, and the addition of quarterback Norm Van Brocklin in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams.
