The uses and limits... 1 Turkish sports diplomacy in the service of renewed power? The uses and limits of Turkey’s “sport power” Jean-François Polo 1 For the first time in its fifteen years of brilliant yet unsuccessful candidacies to host the Olympic Games (OG) and the Football European Championships (Euro), Turkey was admitted into the elite group of countries capable of staging sports mega-events. Although it failed in the last round for the 2020 Olympic Games (beaten by Tokyo in 2013), and for the Euro 2016 (beaten by France in 2010), it has since been tipped as the strong favourite to host Euro 2024. International matches have been simultaneously utilized by the Turkish government as an opportunity to publicly demonstrate its willingness to resolve historically problematic issues with other countries, notably Armenia, Greece, and Syria. -

2014 Winter Olympic Competing Nations ALBANIA (ALB)
2014 Winter Olympic Competing Nations We list below detailed historial Olympic information for every IOC Member Nation that has previously competed at the Olympic Winter Games and that will compete in Sochi, as of 27 January 2014. There appear to be 88 qualified NOCs that have met IF quota requirements as of 24 January, and have accepted them (the previous record for a Winter Olympics is 82 in 2010 at Vancouver). Unfortunately, after reallocation of some quotas, only the skiing federation (FIS) has published the final quotas as of 26 January. We have tried to list below the sports for which each NOC has qualified but there is a small chance, with reallocations, that there may be minor differences in the final allocation by sport. There are seven nations that will compete in Sochi that have never before competed at the Olympic Winter Games – Dominica, Malta, Paraguay, Timor-Leste (East Timor), Togo, Tonga, and Zimbabwe. Their factsheets have been published previously on olympstats.com – see http://olympstats.com/2014/01/23/new-winter-olympic-nations-for-sochi/, which came out on 23 January. One problem nation is listed below and that is DPR Korea (North). They have not qualified any athletes for Sochi. They had the 1st and 2nd reserves for pairs figure skating but those do not appear to have been chosen by final reallocation of quota sports by the International Skating Union (ISU). However, yesterday (26 January), DPR Korea has petitioned the IOC for redress to allow them to have Olympic athletes compete in Sochi. So they are included below but it is unknown if they will compete. -

It is founded on five basic human values: • Harmony between body and mind • Excellence within oneself • Integrity in action • Respect for one another • Joy in effo r t The role of the International Olympic Committee is to coordi n a t e , lead, and serve the Olympic Movement in its mission to advance Olympism worldwide and to ensure the regular celebration of the Olympic Games, which best exemplify these values. Ra p p o r t final: XXVIIe Olympiade 01 In t ro d u c t i o n Message from the President The years 1997 through 2000 have been extraordinarily rich in major events for the Interna t i o n a l Olympic Committee (IOC) and the entire Olympic Movement. The crisis which affected us in late 1998 provided a unique, golden opportunity for an in-depth ref o r m of our institutions. We reacted swiftly and significantly. The IOC held three Sessions in 1999 (M a r ch 1999 in Lausanne, June 1999 in Seoul and December 1999 in Lausanne), two of them being ex t r a o rd i n a r y Sessions dedicated to the elaboration and the enactment of the ref o r ms known as 2000 Reform. -

MC-Carnaghi Villa Cortese: Domani L’Esordio in Final Four Di Champions League, Abbondanza, Berg E Guiggi Presentano La Sfida Con Cannes
