Title Sponsor Presenting Sponsor Media Sponsor Barbara BushThe believed Living everyone deserves Legacy an equal opportunity of Barbara to live the American Dream Bush and that the path to achieving it begins with learning how to read. That is why she chose literacy as her cause while in the and led a movement to raise awareness about the importance of reading and to expand literacy programs across America.

Dedicated to breaking the intergenerational cycle of low literacy in America, in 1989 Mrs. Bush founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, a charitable organization focused on programs that enable parents and their children to learn together. Two years later, she played an integral role in the passage of the National Literacy Act of 1991, our country’s first congressional bill enacted to coordinate and increase access to adult literacy programs. Because of her efforts, millions of adults have had a second chance to earn their high school diplomas and/or learn to read, write, and speak English. She truly earned the title “First Lady of Literacy.”

Mrs. Bush’s work in promoting and advancing the literacy cause did not end when she left the White House. She did so for nearly 30 years, both nationally and in her hometown through the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. She never stopped caring and giving.

As a role model for leading a life of service to others and a champion of the literacy cause, Barbara Bush will forever be our inspiration for helping people reach their fullest potential in life through the power of literacy.

Mrs. Bush encouraged all of us to get involved in something bigger than ourselves, in the big ideas of our time, and live a life of purpose and meaning. The most befitting way to honor Mrs. Bush’s legacy is to continue advancing her vision of literacy for all. Thank you for helping us make this possible through your sponsorship of A Celebration of Reading. 2021

While progress is being made towards distributing vaccines for the coronavirus, we anticipate social gatherings will continue to be impacted through spring. Despite being faced with these challenges, we are nonetheless pleased that during this transitional year, A Celebration of Reading 2021 will be a hybrid event involving an exclusive dinner program for top event sponsors and a post-event, televised broadcast production for all to enjoy with friends and family. Specifically, on the evening of Thursday, April 29, at Five-Star Post Oak Hotel at Uptown, top sponsors will enjoy a professional-quality program featuring a line-up of bestselling authors and fabulous entertainers followed by dinner. Event sponsors will also have an option of enjoying the program at home via internet livestream. In addition, A Celebration of Reading will be filmed by our media partners at KPRC Channel 2, who will broadcast an edited, commercial-free one-hour version of the program in early May for donors, supporters and the general public to enjoy.

Please be certain to view sponsorship levels and associated benefits, as they have been modified due to restrictions on maximum in-person guests in compliance with safety and health guidelines, as well as to optimize visibility for event sponsors.
