Media Advisory April 21, 2018 Funeral of Former First MEDIA ADVISORY APRIL 21, 2018 FUNERAL OF FORMER FIRST LADY BARBARA BUSH TO BE A CELEBRATION OF FAMILY, SERVICE HOUSTON – Family, dignitaries and invited guests attending the funeral of former First Lady Barbara Bush today at 11:00am CST at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston will experience an Easter Liturgy that celebrates her singular life of service and devotion to her family and countless friends. The Bush family led by former President George H. W. Bush, former President and Mrs. George W. Bush, former President and Mrs. Bill Clinton, former President and Mrs. Barack Obama, and First Lady Melania Trump – along with a 1500 guests – will gather to pay respects to the much beloved matriarch known for her wit, candor and relentless advocacy for family literacy. Following the funeral service, the Bush family will proceed by motorcade to the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas for a brief, private interment ceremony. Following rundown of the day is for guidance purposes and may be reported: 10:00 AM VIP Reception hosted by President George W. Bush. The pall is removed and flowers are placed upon the casket. 12:30 PM The remains will be carried from the church by the grandsons. 12:40 PM Motorcade departs St. Martins Church en route College Station. Motorcade route when departing St. Martin’s: The motorcade proceeds east on Memorial Drive through Memorial Park. Just east of the park at Westcott, turns left and then merges onto I-10. The route through the park will be publicized, so Houstonians may pay their respects. Motorcade route when entering College Station: The motorcade remains on Texas Avenue to George Bush Drive. Motorcade turns left onto George Bush Drive, and then right onto Barbara Bush Drive. This route will be publicized so that the A&M/College Station community may pay their respects. 2:45 PM Arrive George Bush Presidential Library Center, College Station, TX. Note: When the motorcade reaches plaza, it will be empty. This will be a private time for the Bush family only. OPEN PRESS Note: Media platform in front of the Museum captures motorcade passing in front of the Museum. Once the motorcade turns down the side of the Museum building, the family will be off camera. Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets will line the motorcade route on Barbara Bush Drive approaching The George Bush Presidential Library Complex. The motorcade will stop on the plaza between the Library and School Buildings, with the hearse positioned at the top of the stairs leading to the pond. Mrs. Bush’s casket will be removed by military support. Family gathers behind casket. The procession will proceed in the following order to the gravesite: Clergy Remains Immediate Family Only 3:00 PM Interment. CLOSED PRESS Once the procession has passed over the bridge and is approaching the pavilion, The Singing Cadets, prepositioned at gravesite, will begin singing. The procession continues through the woods to the gravesite. Once the casket is placed on the bier, The Singing Cadets will conclude their musical selection. They will then quietly depart. A private interment service will be conducted by The Reverend Dr. Russell Levenson and The Reverend Peter Cheney. 3:10 PM Interment will be complete. END .

Rapoport Introduction Since our first survey of FreedomWorks subscribers in December 2011, a lot has happened: the 2012 Republican nomination contests, the 2012 presidential and Congressional elections, continuing debates over the budget, Obamacare, and immigration, and the creation of a Republican Party Growth and Opportunity Project (GOP). In all of these, the Tea Party has played an important role. Tea Party-backed candidates won Republican nominations in contested primaries in Arizona, Indiana, Texas and Missouri, and two of the four won elections. Even though Romney was not a Tea Party favorite (see the first report), the movement pushed him and other Republican Congressional/Senatorial candidates (e.g., Orin Hatch) to engage the Tea Party agenda even when they had not done so before. In this report, we will focus on the role of FreedomWorks subscribers in the 2012 nomination and general election campaigns. We’ll also discuss their role in—and view of—the Republican Party as we move forward to 2014 and 2016. This is the first of multiple reports on the March-June 2013 survey, which re-interviewed 2,613 FreedomWorks subscribers who also filled out the December 2011 survey. Key findings: Rallying around Romney (pp. 3-4) Between the 2011 and 2013 surveys, Romney’s evaluations went up significantly from 2:1 positive to 4:1 positive surveys. By the end of the nomination process Romney and Santorum had become the two top nomination choices but neither received over a quarter of the sample’s support.
