CONTENTS LIST FOR ALL ISSUES OF THE LOCOMOTIVE MAGAZINE 1896 to 1923 (from No. 1 Volume 1 to No. 376 Volume 29) It appeared monthly except during 1903 when it came out each week. In 1896 the publication was called Moore’s Monthly Magazine. Please note that only the main items are listed here, but it is hoped they will prove sufficient for you to choose the issue you wish to browse. The editing has been subjective, concentrating on items that were judged to be of the greatest general interest. Railways of Britain and Ireland have been given preference, but plenty of the more distant ones do still feature. If you want to know all the small paragraphs that were included, you will need to consult the full index to every volume, which appears as the file ‘All the Indexes’ on DVD1. The magazine occasionally included a coloured plate or a supplement. These did not always stay with that copy and so were sometimes missing in the ones we had available to scan. If they were present they are featured in the files, but of course if they were not there we were unable to scan what we did not have. The contents list is word-searchable. Some of the railways are identified by their abbreviations as given below, and for those ones that is precisely what you must search for. To see what is available for others you should enter a key word – for the Wrexham, Mold and Connor’s Quay Railway, for instance, look for just ‘Wrexham’ or ‘Mold’. It is not recommended that you look for ‘Connor’s’, though, because if it has been written ‘Connors’ without the apostrophe you won’t find it.
