The proposed program is a Joint Master of Technology programme in Computer Science and Engi- neering, with specializations in two tracks in viz. Data Sciences and Information Security. The program aims to synergizes the research expertises available at IIT Jammu and at DA-IICT Gandhinagar to an advantage with an aim to benefit the knowledge seekers in the areas of Data Sciences and Information Security in general. The program is an outcome of the efforts by the Directors of the two institutes to harbour collaborative teaching and research across the two institutes, and that resulted into an MoU signed between the two in November 2018, with the blessings of the R C Bose Centre of Security and Cryptography, Kolkata. Question 2: Who will be offering the degree ? The degree is to be offered by the IIT Jammu. For the courses that are done at DA-IICT or R C Bose Centre for Security and Cryptography, there would be appropriate credit transfers from DAIICT or R C Bose Centre for Security and Cryptography. Question 3: Where do I have to study all the semesters ? For the first semester, the student will have to stay and study at IIT Jammu, for the second semester he/she will have to stay at DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, whereas for the third and the fourth semesters, a student can opt for either institute depending on with which faculty member, the research interest aligns with. A student may even opt for the RC Bose Centre for Security and Cryptography, Kolkata for his/her dissertation work in the third and the fourth semesters. Question 4: What will be the name of the degree ? Would one get a degree in Data Sci- ence or in Information Security ? The name of the degrees are as follows: 1. Masters of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Data Sciences. 2. Masters of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Informa- tion Security. Question 5: What will be the fee structure ? Will I have to pay different fees at different institutes ? The fee structure will be that specified at the IIT Jammu website and the one that is approved by the Board of Governors, IIT Jammu. Irrespective of where a student studies, the tuition fees would be the same at all the three places. However, the Hostel fees and other related fees will have to be paid as per the norms at the place of study. Question 6: Can I apply to both the specializations ? 3 Yes, one can. Unfortunately, however, due to an inherent implementation issue, one has to submit two different applications with individual submissions - it is not possible to do so within a single application. Question: 7: Can one having a B E degree and not B Tech apply ? Can one having a B Tech degree and not B E degree apply ? Yes, the B E and the B Tech degree both are considered equivalent. Question 8: I have a GATE in CS/IT or EC/EE or in Mathematics but my qualifying de- gree is neither a B.Tech in (CS/IT/EC/EE) OR an MSc in (Mathematics/Statistics). Am I eligible to apply for M.Tech(CSE) ? Yes, anyone who has a qualifying Bachelors of Engineering/Technology degree in Electrical Engi- neering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology or a very closely related (to these disciplines) Engineering & Technology graduation under a different name can apply. Similarly, those who have a Masters of Sciences degree in Mathematics or Statistics can apply. One having a Masters degree in Computer Applications or Masters of Sciences in Computer Science are also eligible to apply. Candidates who have qualified AMIE or Grad IETE qualifications will also be considered for admission on the basis of their performance in AMIE/Grad IETE. Such candidates will have to complete 24 valid credits specified by concerned DRC/CRC/PEC along with a valid GATE score. However, anyone having any of these degrees must have a valid GATE score (except for some specific cases of graduation from IITs - as specified elsewhere in this document) on the date of admission for being considered further in the selection process. Question 9: Do I need to have a valid GATE score for being considered for admission to this program ? Yes, you need to have a valid GATE score. This means for admissions in the semester beginning August 2019, you must have appeared in GATE 2017, GATE 2018, OR GATE 2019 with a valid GATE score. However, candidates who have secured CGPA of 8.5 and above in graduation from IITs are also eligible for admission. These candidates need not qualify GATE 2019 entrance examination to get through IIT Jammu M.Tech 2019 admission. These candidates will still have to appear in the test and personal technical interview that would be conducted at IIT Jammu. For such SC/ST candidates minimum CGPA required is 6.75 to 6.25. Question 10: What is the minimum percentage requirement at the qualifying degree for admission to MTech (CSE) ? Does this restriction apply to my BSc degree also ? There is no minimum percentage requirement at the qualifying degree. The admission authority of IIT Jammu has reserved some seats for candidates belonging to reserved categories. Eligible candidates will have to produce appropriate reservation certificate during the interview process, whether mentioned elsewhere or not. Question 12: Is there any seat reserved for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, CW? The schedule for reserved seats is as shown in Table I. Question 13: Are the candidates appearing in the final exam in April-May 2019 eligible to apply? Yes, they are eligible with the same eligibility criteria, albeit provisionally. They are required to submit mark statement of the last CGPA/aggregate percentage of marks. However, they will have to submit the final qualifying degree certificate/provisional degree certificate latest by 30th September 2019; failing which their admission would stand cancelled and the fees forfeited. They are also required to submit a declaration to this effect at the time of the interview. Question 14: Do I need to post the print out of application after applying online? No, there is no need to send the print out of the application or any documents.
