Barton Deakin Brief: Tasmanian Ministry 20 March 2018

Tasmanian Premier the Hon. MP today unveiled his new Ministry, following the declaration of the final results on Monday the 19 March 2018.

The new ministry will be sworn in tomorrow, 21 March 2018.

This Barton Deakin Brief provides an overview of the changes to the ministerial arrangements and includes an updated ministry list.

Overview Cabinet will have nine members, an increase of one.

The Hon. Michael Ferguson MP adds Police to his existing portfolios of Health, Information Technology, and Innovation. Mr Ferguson takes over the Police Minister role from Rene Hidding MP who will be nominated by the Government as Speaker.

The Ministry includes the new portfolios of Trade, Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries, and Science and Technology.

The Parks portfolio has been separated from the Environment portfolio and placed with Mr Hodgman.

Roger Jaensch MP has been appointed Minister for Human Services.

Sarah Courtney MP has been appointed Primary Industries and Water Minister and the Hon. MP will be the Attorney-General in addition to her previous ministerial responsibilities.
