Autos Post Covid-19: Industry Evolution To Accelerate Whilst Consumer Habits Change 07 May 2020 Global Autos Key Views: • Following the severe negative impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on the global automotive industry, we believe that several key long- and short-term structural changes will occur post-Covid-19. • The vehicle sales environment post-Covid-19 will see some trends shift, such as consumer bases, while other existing trends, such as e-commerce, will likely accelerate over 2020-2024. In addition to this, we note that the seven-year auto loans will become entrenched in some markets such as the US, while contagion fear and environmental concerns will drive consumers to buy cars and adopt electric vehicles (EVs). • The experiences gathered during the lockdown period will define a ‘new normal’ for the autos industry, including improving the online shopping experience, video calls with potential clients to answer their specific questions, and providing secure online applications to finalise paperwork and a renewed focus on autonomous vehicles' importance. • Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will also go through a restructuring process, which will involve EV platform consolidation, automation, supply chain diversification and changes to OEMs' global operational network.     MEDIA INFORMATION Zurich, August 7, 2020 LYRIQ Show Car Leads Cadillac Into Electric Future The brand’s first all-electric vehicle introduces a new era in luxury, technology and zero-tailpipe-emissions performance Cadillac Europe Cadillac’s introduction of its electric portfolio begins today with the debut Boulevard Lilienthal 6 CH-8152 Glattpark (Opfikon) of the LYRIQ show car — a dynamic, modern and fully electric premium Schweiz crossover. The propulsion system and supporting technologies position Cadillac to be a leader in electrification, connectivity and automated driving, all delivered with thrilling performance and a new threshold in technology integration. “Led by LYRIQ, Cadillac will redefine American luxury over the next decade with a new portfolio of transformative EVs,” said Steve Carlisle, executive vice president and president, GM North America. “We will deliver experiences that engage the senses, anticipate desires and enable our customers to go on extraordinary journeys.” The LYRIQ is based on GM’s next-generation, modular electric vehicle platform and driven by the Ultium propulsion system, allowing Cadillac to deliver customers a variety of range and performance options.
