Descendants of Henry WHARLEY 7 Dec 2013 First Generation 1. Henry WHARLEY,1,2,3 son of Cuthbert WHALEY ALS WATERS (bap.1588), was baptised on 22 November 1618 in Hunsdon, Herts.4 He was a Wool Draper & Quaker. His will was proved in 1662. He was a Quaker. At some point he married Ann. Daniel WHARLEY , Gent,5,6,7 son of Henry WHARLEY and Ann, was born on 15 July 1652 in Hunsdon, Herts.3,4 He was a Woolen Draper, Glover, Quaker Financier, Shipper & Secretary. 3,5,7,8,9,10 On 10 April 1675 he was resident in London.4 He loaded 'a Mill and Iron worth £53 10s onto the ship "The Welcome" which was to take William Penn and Quaker Families to Pennsylvania' on 7 July 1682.11 On 22 May 1685 he was resident in London.6 He Inherited a copyhold tenemant called "Chelmsford" in Hunsdon, Herts from his brother Henry Whearley on 14 November 1685. 6 On 4 September 1686 he was resident in London.3 He married Mary PENNINGTON on 4 September 1686 in Jordans, Chalfont St Giles, Bucks.3 On 4 January 1688 he was resident in George Yard, Lombard St, London. 7 He was appointed Executor of the will of his wife's uncle, William Penington, Merchant of London on 4 January 1688. 7 On 17 February 1688 he was resident in London.3 On 7 April 1688 he was resident in Amersham, Bucks. 12 He was appointed Overseer of the Will of Alexander Parker, Haberdasher of George Yard, Lombard St, London on 6 March 1689. He Inherited the residue of the estate of his uncle-in-law William Penington in April 1689. 7 He purchased Grove Place, Chalfont St Giles from Nicholas Blakey, Gent of London & Thomas Eyres, Gent of Croydon for £2000 in January 1691. 13 On 4 January 1692 he was resident in London.8 On 1 December 1692 he was resident in Edmunds the King, Lombard St, London.12 He donated 'land in Hunsdon to be used to build a Quaker Meeting House' in 1695. He sold 'Cloth to Joseph Ashley, a Draper who made Uniforms for Regiments of the British Army' in 1695. 14 On 26 December 1696 he was resident in St Margarets, Lathbury, London. 12 On 11 January 1697 he was resident in London.5 In 1697 he was resident in London.9 He purchased Newhouse, Chalfont St Giles and other land from Robert Fleetwood, Gent of London for £5166 in January 1697.15 On 22 December 1697 he was resident in Chalfont St Giles, Bucks & Coleshill, Bucks.3 On 29 October 1700 he was resident in London.12 On 31 June 1702 he was resident in London & Chalfont St Giles.3 He was appointed Executor of the will of his brother-in-law, John Penington, Gent of Amersham on 31 May 1708. 16 He purchased Grove Place Manor, Chalfont St Giles from John Eyres, Gent of Croydon for £43 in June 1709. 17 On 20 October 1709 he was resident in Chalfont St Giles, Bucks.18 He Inherited 1 guinea from his friend Thomas Ellwood on 15 May 1713. 19 He was appointed Secretary of Upperside Bucks Quaker Meeting on 30 July 1713. 20 He sold 'his estate at Chalfont St Giles, Chalfont St Peter & Amersham to Sir Francis Eyles, Baronet & Alderman of London for £10,700' on 2 July 1715. 21 On 2 July 1715 he was resident in Chalfont St Giles.21 He was a Quaker.22 He died on 3 April 1721 in New House, Chalfont St Giles, Bucks.23 His will was proved on 18 January 1722.24 Mary PENNINGTON,1,7,16,18 daughter of Isaac PENINGTON (1616-1679) and Mary PROUDE (bap.1623, d.1682), was born on 10 February 1657 in Chalfont St Peter, Bucks. 3,25 She was a Quaker.3 She Inherited £30 per annum while she remains unmarried and then £300 upon her marriage from her mother in October 1682.26 On 4 September 1686 she was resident in Amersham.3 She Inherited £100 from her uncle William Pennington in April 1689. 7 She Inherited 1 guinea from her friend Thomas Ellwood on 15 May 1713.19 In 1726 she was resident in Aylesbury, Bucks. 27 She was a Quaker. She died on 13 September 1726.3 She was buried on 21 November 1726 in Jordans.3,28 Her will was proved on 12 January 1727. Edward WHARLEY,3,16,19 son of Daniel WHARLEY , Gent and Mary PENNINGTON, was born on 31 June 1702 in Chalfont St Giles.12 He Inherited £150 and a silver pottinger from his uncle John Penington with his name engraved upon it on 2 June 1710.16 He was apprenticed to Joshua Gee, Citizen & Grocer for £100 in 1718. 10 He was an Apprentice Grocer.10 In 1718 he was resident in London.10 He died on 2 May 1726.3 He was buried on 6 July 1726 in Jordans.3,28 14.
