Page 3 of 9  Plein Air Outings Wednesday 21 October : Greenpoint Urban Park: Report Back: Our Plein Air outing to Greenpoint Urban Park was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. The weather was pefect, cool but sunny and no wind. There were lots of waterfowl about, and the waterlilies blooming above multicoloured leaves in the water were so picturesque. Artists settled down with their new versa-brollies and sketchbooks and had a happy morning enjoying being together outdoors.

Monday 16 November: Chart Farm, Newlands Always a favourite, the rose garden is open and of course, so is the restaurant for coffee and a bite to eat. Meet in the parking area at about 9am. It is a beautiful area for painting; scenic landscape vistas, some old Cape Dutch Architecture amongst fabulous rose and flowering gardens. The View Coffee shop will welcome you with some very tempting treats around tea or lunchtime. Directions: Take the M3 through Bishopscourt until you see the Trovato link turn off. Go down the slip road and take the first turn right in the direction of Wynberg Park. Drive past the park and under the motorway bridge and we are the first turn on your left on a dirt track. Please let Sonja know if you will be going (also for safety reasons) by emailing her at [email protected]. Along with your painting paraphernalia, please don't forget water, food, a sunhat, sunscreen, your new brolly and maybe a windproof jacket. If you would like to be included in the impromptu sessions, you can email Sonja to have your name added to the Whatsapp group.

Good news for our library users. The library will be open from 5pm on Thursday evening 26 November for our end of year function and Eleanor Palmer evening. All those with outstanding library items will have been notified by Carrie, but if you need more information, please contact her at [email protected] You can also take this opportunity to take out items and these you can keep until the January meeting or until we open again on a regular basis.

Page 4 of 9  SASA Exhibitions Art in the Park: Saturday 21 November: There’s still space available at our next Art in the Park scheduled for Saturday 21 November. We’ve had a wonderful response already and after the months of lockdown, it will be great to get out and exhibit all that work that’s been created over these last few months. All the rules about social distancing, masks, etc, will need to be adhered to, and will be well worth the effort to get our artwork on display again. For those of you who have already booked, all the relevant information as well as your stand numbers have been sent out. If you haven’t received your booking confirmation, please urgently email [email protected]. Rondebosch Park is on the corner of Sandown and Campground Roads in Rondebosch and remember you can put up work that has been on previous SASA exhibitions for AIP, but it must be your original artwork. Printed work in the form of postcards, greeting cards, etc are fine provided original artwork is also available, the emphasis being on Art in the Park. The cost of the stand is R150 and payment can be made to SASA Nedbank Constantia branch 198765 account number 1088006981 - please use your name as the beneficiary reference. We will also be promoting the event in the newspapers, radio and through street posters. An invitation will also be sent out to our VIP buyers, so we are expecting a great turnout. There was an overwhelming response to the task to display this vast amount of work.
