Capitol Corridor Service Performance
CAPITOL CORRIDOR SERVICE PERFORMANCE In July 2016, the Capitol Corridor had one of its best months in the history of the service. Ridership was the highest ever, with a total of 128,655 passengers, a 1.7% year‐over‐year (YOY) increase. Revenue was up 4.6% compared to July 2015. Compared to June 2016, On‐ Time Performance (OTP) slipped slightly from 96% to 95%, yet was still above the FY16 standard of 90%. The Year‐To‐Date (YTD) results continue to be in positive territory. Compared to FY15, FYTD16 ridership and revenue are up 5.5%, with the System Operating Ratio at 55%, five percentage points above the 50% standard. YTD OTP is 94%, which keeps the Capitol Corridor in the #1 spot for service reliability in the national Amtrak intercity passenger rail network. The FYTD16 customer satisfaction scores (through June 2016) are at 89% “Highly Satisfied”, one point above the FY16 standard of 88%. The following are ridership highlights for July 2016: Average weekend ridership for July was down 7% versus July 2015. To address these continued decreases in weekend ridership, the CCJPA is modifying the weekend/holiday train schedule effective August 22, 2016, to slot trains at times that align with typical weekend travel patterns. Average July weekday ridership yielded a 9% increase thanks to continued growth on the trains serving San Jose/Silicon Valley and Placer County stations. Amtrak has sent detailed performance results (see attached) for June 2016 and provided below is a summary of the attached tables: OTP: June 2016 system end‐point OTP was a stellar 96% compared to 93% for May 2016. -

To Continue Our Recognition of Women in Significant Governmental
Mentoring Mondays January 11, 2021 To continue our recognition of women in significant governmental positions, this week we will look at the “Women Who Speak for Biden” (excerpts from a reprint from USA Today). This marks the first time that women will hold all of the communications positions for the White House. Each has extensive experience and are accustomed to working with each other. Jen Psaki will lead the communications team as White House Press Secretary – Psaki is a veteran of President Obama’s administration and has overseen the confirmation team for Biden’s transition. Her training as State Department spokesman is among the best. As communications director in 2015 and 2016, Psaki reorganized the White House approach to media with more attention for non-traditional and online outlets. She served as traveling press secretary for Obama during his reelection campaign. Karine Jean-Pierre will serve as Principal Deputy Press Secretary – Karine was a senior advisor on the Biden campaign, and was chief of staff to Kamala Harris. She was chief public affairs officer for MoveOn.org and a political analyst for NBC and MSNBC. Jean-Pierre was regional political director for the White House Office of Political Affairs during the Obama- Biden administration and served as deputy battleground states director for Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign. Kate Bedingfield will be White House Communications Director – Bedingfield served as communications director for Biden when he was vice president and associate communications director, deputy director of media affairs and the director of response in the Obama-Biden White House. Before joining the Biden White House team, Bedingfield was communications director to Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) on her successful 2008 Senate campaign, along with other roles on Democratic campaigns. -

The following data was provided to each host railroad: . the total number of passengers, by train and by day; . the station-specific number of detraining passengers, reported by host railroad whose railroad right-of-way serves the station, by train, and by day; and . the station-specific number of on-time passengers reported by host railroad whose railroad right- of-way serves the station, by train, and by day. Executive Summary This chapter provides an interregional perspective to transportation planning within the San Joaquin Valley (SJV) of California, consisting of the entireties of the counties of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings, and Kern. This chapter addresses several issues of regional and interregional importance including air quality, highways, streets and roads, aviation, rail, goods movement and bicycle efforts. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a broad overview of issues that cross jurisdictional boundaries. The Congestion Management Processes and Operations and Maintenance issues will be addressed by each individual RTPA as applicable. Valleywide Planning The recently approved Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU) replaced the Transportation Equity Act for the 21 st Century (TEA-21) as the funding for major infrastructure investment for transportation improvements. SAFETEA-LU funds are directed toward projects and programs for a broad variety of highway and transit work through several funding components including: Surface Transportation Program, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality, Transportation Enhancements, Safety Program, Rail Program and Emergency Relief Programs. Previous federal legislation included the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) and TEA-21. Transportation planning efforts are directed to be coordinated in geographically defined air basins. The eight counties mentioned above do share an air basin and have many attributes in common. There are also significant differences in the context of transportation planning.
