OFFICIAL DIGITAL PROGRAMME FLEET TOWN v HARTLEY WINTNEY TUESDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2018 – 7.45 P.M The Evo-Stik League South East Our Captain Matt Bunyan Fleet Town Squad 2017/18 SPONSORED BY WELCOME FROM OUR JOINT MANAGER STEVE DORMER Good evening and welcome to the Franki Foundation Stadium to our neighbours Hartley Witney. They have had a tremendous start to the season and currently sit in the play-off position after a good result away to AFC Dunstable. I have nothing but admiration for the management team on and off the field at Hartley for what they have achieved so far. I think a lot of people probably feel they are over achieving, but not me, they have a great togetherness and dressing room, and with that bond I’m not surprised at all where they currently sit in this division. “Well done guys.” What we are trying to achieve at Fleet Town is very similar however we are three years behind our neighbours, but they are clearly our benchmark. On Saturday we put in a poor first half display against Aylesbury Utd and should have been more than one nil down, however we dug in and rode our luck. Going down to ten men before half time didn’t help but we made substitutions, changed the shape and decided to sit tight for the first 20 mins After that we went for it to try and get back into the game and we came close towards the end. If we show the same character this evening as we did against Aylesbury in the second half this evening’s game will be a close one. If we come out and perform like we did in the first half Hartley will tear us apart. We now enter into a difficult few days playing two teams in the play-off position, but we fancy getting a result in these games as long as all players involved put in a good shift. We will have big Owen Roberts back this evening, he has been missing for three games and we have missed him. We will have a new signing making his first appearance, possibly from the bench though. There are no injury concerns at all for us. May I apologise for state the pitch will be in for this evening’s game (I have already called the Hartley manager to explain) and also to our supporters, we are having work done on the pitch and a large cherry picker will be used on the floodlights and a large quantity of mats will be laid over the surface for two days before the game. Enjoy the game guys which should be a cracker. Hartley Wintney Football Club was founded in the North Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney in 1897 and played in an area adjacent to the village's golf and cricket clubs, the facilities not quite being up to today's standard, with only a horse trough or the pond to remove the heavy mud from a sub-standard pitch. The Club's nickname of 'The Row' comes from 'Hartley Row', a former hamlet within Hartley Wintney.
