I worked in Lincoln for seventeen years at the Electronics company AEI, later known as Marconi. This is where I met my husband, Roy. I moved into Accountancy and later, Sales. In 1994 we purchased Ivy Lodge on Messingham Road, entering the hospitality industry. In 2008 I graduated with a Foundation Business Degree from Lincoln University, as a mature student, having studied at North Lindsey College. I thoroughly enjoy living in Scotter, having developed our business here providing Bed & Breakfast to some wonderful people, many of whom have since settled locally. My time within the hospitality industry led me to being made a Non-executive Director of Lincolnshire Tourism around 2010. Tourism is an important component of the local economy of West Lindsey. I am pleased that during my time in this post I helped secure a dedicated council employee with responsibility for promoting tourism. By listening, working hard and bringing a fresh approach to the role of District Councillor I know I can make a real difference. I have ambitions for our whole area that I am confident local people share.     WEST LINDSEY DISTRICT COUNCIL ELECTIONS THURSDAY, 7th MAY 2015 Pat MEWIS The local choice for the Scotter & Blyton Ward Proud to represent the people of Blyton, East Ferry, East Stockwith, Laughton, Morton, Northorpe, Pilham, Scotter, Scotton, Thonock, Walkerith and Wildsworth Dear Resident, I have been a resident of Scotter for 21years, previously living in Lincoln and the West Lindsey villages of Welton, Scothern and Saxilby. I was employed for 17 years at the Electronics company AEI later known as Marconi, later moving into accountancy and Sales before purchasing Ivy Lodge. In 2008 I graduated with a Foundation Business Degree from Lincoln University as a mature student. I thoroughly enjoy living and working in Scotter having developed the Bed & Breakfast business. Tourism is an important component of the local economy and a number of us have formed a ‘working group’ that will promote West Lindsey. We will find new ways to enhance the visitor appeal and further develop business investment. In December 2013, sadly Councillor William Parry passed away which resulted in a February by- election, by electing me at that time you gave me the opportunity to serve the Community and to bring a fresh approach to the role of District Councillor. I have learnt such a lot in the year and met some wonderful people listening to residents’ opinions, their concerns and ambitions for the Scotter and Blyton area. I hope to be able to carry on working hard in caring and supporting our local communities and you will continue to support me. In February 2014 I said I knew I could make a difference and chose some priorities for example Keep Council Tax Frozen.
