“The Greatest Songwriter on the Planet” In Concert on October 30 at Tacoma’s Pantages Theater

Tacoma, WA – Broadway Center presents Grammy Award nominee and international songster Rufus Wainwright on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at Tacoma’s historic Pantages Theater. Tickets go on sale for the general public on June 14.

Hailing from a tradition of musicality as the son of folk singers Loudon Wainwright III and Kate McGarrigle, Rufus Wainwright is affectionately referred to by as “the greatest songwriter on the planet” and praised by the New York Times for his “genuine originality.” As a Grammy nominee, he is one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. His singular sound is carved from the worlds of rock, opera, theater, dance and film.

The last few years have been quite a journey for Rufus Wainwright. Creatively, he put aside and concentrated on his other interests, from his Grammy-nominated recreation of Judy Garland's fabled Carnegie Hall concert to the 2009 premiere of his opera, .

His most recent studio is Out of the Game, created with the input of a new collaborator, celebrated producer . The results are the loosest, most accessible music of Wainwright's career, retaining his distinctive narrative sense and wry wit while adding classic pop pleasures.
