In 2007, we spearheaded a Train-the-Trainer (Level 1) course which to date has reached its 56th run. In the past 10 years, this 16-hour course has aligned our associate trainers to MOE’s pedogocial direction It has provided them with the most up-to-date knowledge and classroom management skills to excel in their services to the schools. To ensure that our associate trainers stay relevant in their competence, we have a continous stream of Train-the-Trainer (Level 2) workshops each year, helmed by our in-house Programme Directors and external specialists. Our niche lies in our ability to provide a holistic learning experience and we constantly seek to use a creative and interdisciplinary approach to impact learners of this generation. This is possible because we are able to collaborate with our other Mastereign entities to customise fusion courses under the A’cademy Fusion label. We believe that students, like good seeds, are basically pure, potent and full of life force. In other words, if they are sown in good soil, they will grow roots and sprout shoots. It primarily develops the literary strengths of children aged between seven and twelve old from low-income families. The lead teachers worked closely on a weekly basis with a pool of dedicated volunteers to equip these children with fundamental reading and comprehension skills. In the last two years, Mastereign A’cademy has served more than five hundred children in fifteen Nurture Centres throughout the Central Singapore CDC. In 2013, we started conducting pre- and post-programme reading tests to measure the reading level and progress of the children in the programme. We also revised their NurturePlus literacy curriculum and provided volunteers training workshops on the use of the enhanced curriculum. FUNTASTIC MATHEMATICS, GLOBAL INDIAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL FUNTASTIC MATHEMATICS was successfully carried out to build up the average pupil’s interest in Maths. It was done through fun and play for a full five hours. Elements such as the ‘Magix’ portion, the logical brainteasers and ‘mathentertainments’ were conducted in a game-oriented challenge environment.
