SRO Productions has staged a revival of GODSPELL in the round, the regional premier of the Pulitzer Prize winning musical and a completely sold out run of LES MISERABLES. Most recently, the company has mounted well-received productions of shows as varied as YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, THE LAST FIVE YEARS, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and ONCE ON THIS ISLAND. In addition, SRO has also sponsored acting workshops, as well as technical workshops for those community people interested in the backstage workings of a theatrical production. SRO Productions III joined forces with the Discovery Center in the summer of 1992 to begin a theater and playwriting program for children. This program has proven quite rewarding and tremendously successful. Throughout the last decade, SRO has worked with a variety of community groups providing the pooling of talents and resources with groups such as The Dance Connection, Jan DeAngelo & Company, Tongue ‘n Cheek Ltd., etc. SRO has taken several shows on tour to outlying areas including New Milford, PA and New Berlin, NY. They have performed at local venues such as The Binghamton Club, The Binghamton Country Club, and The Schorr Family Firehouse Stage. SRO was a regular at First Night Binghamton. SRO Productions is a not for profit community theater organization dedicated to educating, entertaining & enriching the communities of Greater Binghamton. With six people in our original company, membership in SRO is now more than one hundred; SRO is open to any community resident interested in writing, performing or working on theatrical production. Prior theatrical experience has never been a requirement in any of the company’s programs, and newcomers are always encouraged. Robert Rogers—Puppet Designer & Puppeteer Robert Rogers has been fascinated and captivated by the art of puppetry since childhood. Growing up, he had a chance to see the inspiring work of some of the world's greatest puppeteers: Sergei Obratzsov from Russia, the Bunraku Theater of Japan and America’s own Bil Baird. Rogers received his B.F.A. from the School of Arts of New York University in 1976. His post-graduate work continued at the University of Iowa where he studied theater arts and playwriting. He first worked as a professional puppeteer for the Starry Night Puppet Theater in Vestal, New York, with whom he toured extensively and “learned the ropes”. His own troupe was established in 1980; its first production being a memorable adaptation of the classic story, THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS by Kenneth Grahame. Many plays and productions later, the company continues to seek new horizons.

Robert Rogers has received grants from the New York State Arts Council, the Connecticut Commission on the Arts, the New England Touring Foundation, the Danbury Cultural Commission, the Meserve Memorial Fund, and the Puppeteers of America. His puppets have been exhibited at the Scott-Fanton Museum, the Roberson Museum and Science Center, the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier, and the Connecticut Commission on the Arts Gallery at Bradley International Airport.

Rogers is also the founder and artistic director of The American Puppetry Project, a non-profit organization which fosters the artistic growth of students through active participation in projects involving the art of puppetry. Besides working as a puppeteer on stage and a fine artist in the workshop, Rogers is also a playwright, composer and cellist.
