Credit 2 Req./Elective Elective Overview and Methods: The aim of this class is for students to learn several aspects of areas through case studies, mainly focusing on . This area is close to Japan, so we need to learn the historical relationship and cultural differences. This class will be taught using a combination of lecture, and in-class discussions to check the meaning and understanding of the material given in the class. Goals/Objective of class: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to (a) understand the importance of , (b) explain what the ethnic groups in Oceania face to, (c) think how to develop the relationship between Japan and Australia , etc.

Study Requirements: Students need to express themselves to actively participate in class. This course gives the material for students to consider. Therefore, students will need to pre-read class material to prepare questions and opinions on the subject matter to share in class discussions. Post class students will need to reflect, re-read material for a better understanding, and write their weekly reflection. Evaluation Methods: In order to be successful in this course, students will need to complete the following: (1)pass the quizzes 20%, (2)complete homework from the distributed papers 20% (3)give the presentation of one selective topic during the semester 20%. (4) successfully write a report 40%
