William was born Aug. 27, 1929. A memorial service will be at Venice Bible Church. Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Interment will be at Sarasota National Cemetery. Survivors include wife Dolores; sons Steven and William IV of Sarasota; daughter Kathryn Johnson of Sarasota; sister Jean Toedter of New York; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Mr. McAdoo was a charter member of Venice Bible Church 50 years ago. Interred in Section 12, Site 717 of the Sarasota National Cemetery. MCALEER, Joseph William McAleer (Abstracted from https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion/obituary.aspx?n=joseph-mcaleer&pid=164650543) Dr. Joseph William McAleer, CAPT. U. S. Navy ret., age 98 of Orange Park, FL passed away peacefully with his family present on April 28, 2013 in the Life Care Center at Moosehaven. Joe was born on June 9, 1914 in Albion, NE. He was the youngest of nine children born to James Francis and Margaret Hughes McAleer. He entered Creighton University in Omaha, NE on a track scholarship. Following graduation, he was accepted to the Creighton University School of Dentistry where he earned a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Joe practiced in Sioux City, IA for a short time and in July 1941 entered the U. S. Navy Dental Corps. He served until the end of WWII. He then left the Navy and set up a dental practice in Woodbine, IA where he met and married Berval McGee. Together they were blessed with 5 children. In 1950, Joe was recalled to active duty with a Marine Reserve Unit from Omaha, NE. Upon completing that tour of duty he continued in the US Navy making it his career. He served at various duty stations both ashore and afloat with his last tour of duty as Senior Officer Naval Dental Clinic, NAS Jacksonville, FL from where he retired June 30, 1972. After his naval career, he practiced dentistry in Jacksonville for fifteen years. Joe enjoyed his retirement years. He loved the game of golf and played up into his middle 90’s. Joe also cherished the Catholic faith. He served Mass until he was 92. He enjoyed reading, music, working in the yard, and Notre Dame Football. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Berv and their five children: Michael McAleer (Chris), Mark McAleer, Monica McAleer, Lori Austin (Robert) and Mary McLaren (Scott). His 10 grandchildren brought him so much joy: Hannah, Ali and Michael Austin; Caitlin, Emily, Connor and Matthew McAleer; and Cecilia, Lucy and Will McLaren. Joe is also survived by his sister-in-law Joyce Winther; brother-in-law Maurice McGee (LaVonne) and several nieces and nephews. The McAleer family would like to express their sincere thanks to Community Hospice for their excellent care and compassion in making Joe’s last journey so peaceful. Also, thank you to the Life Care Center at Moosehaven, 2nd floor Schmitz Hall for their loving care and in meeting the needs of the family. A memorial Mass for Joe will take place in the Moosehaven Chapel, 1701 Park Ave., Orange Park. Inurnment will take place in Section 7, Site 170 at Jacksonville National Cemetery. He was born April 2, 1943, in Battle Creek, MI, the son of the late Aurilla and Robert McAllan. He was the youngest of 3 siblings. He graduated from Pennfield High in 1961. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1962 -1966. In 1968 he married Judy Conrad, and moved to Sarasota, FL. He was employed by GTE - Verizon as an information specialist for twenty-five years, retiring in 1993. He also worked for Sarasota Memorial Hospital as an information specialist, retiring in 2006. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, son Jay, of South Carolina, daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Leonard Dougal of Sarasota, grandchildren Morgan and Matthew Dougal, sister Barbara Darden of VA, sister-in-law Sandy Conrad of MI, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by both parents and brother, William McAllan. Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, family and friends. Douglas Orrin McAloon, U.S.C.G. - Retired, age 59, Yulee, husband of Debra Hendley McAloon, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2001, at his Johnson Lake Road home following a lengthy illness. Born Aug. 2, 1942 and a native of Pawtucket, RI, he resided in Nassau County for the last 14 years, after relocating from Duval County. C.P.O. McAloon was a third generation Coast Guardsman, and served his country for 21 years until his retirement. While on duty, he was in command of five different units and one ship and was involved in the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Vietnam War. C.P.O. McAloon owned and operated a home repair business in Yulee & Fernandina Beach called Macs Paint & Repair following his retirement from the military. He was a member of the chief Petty Officers Association and attended the North Jacksonville Baptist Church. Survivors, besides his wife, include: three sons, C.P.O. Scott (Kimberly) McAloon - U.S.C.G., and BM-3 Brad (Misty) Van Hoose - U.S.C.G., Duluth, MN, and Shane McAloon, Gainesville, FL; three brothers, George Davis, Dennis McAloon, and Ronnie McAloon; two sisters; many nieces and nephews; and three beautiful granddaughters, Alexis, Chloe and Savannah. Funeral services will be at Oxley-Heard Funeral Home. C.P.O. McAloon will receive full military honors. Interment will be in Section 7, Site 40 in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. MCALOON, Shane Orrin McAloon (Abstracted from https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesunion/obituary.aspx?n=shane-orrin-mcaloon&pid=14799415) U.S. Army Ranger Shane Orrin McAloon died Tuesday, 7/19/2005 at his home in Hartsville, SC. Shane was born 11/19, 1974. He was 30. Ranger McAloon was a graduate of Bronson High School, where he earned All-Area and All-Tournament honors in basketball. He graduated from Coker College, Hartsville, SC with a BA in History, where he also received top honors on the men's basketball team. Ranger McAloon was a member of the US Army 75th Ranger Regiment, 1st Bn, Hunter AAF, Savannah, GA and served in Iraq, where he and his battalion were instrumental in the rescue of Jessica Lynch in April, 2003. In July, 2003, Ranger McAloon sustained serious injuries in an automobile accident near Savannah. He was preceded in death by his father, BMC Douglas McAloon, USCG, Ret. Survivors include a daughter, Alexis Rae McAloon age 10 of Orlando; mother, Rheba Sue McAloon of Jacksonville; a brother, CWO Scott McAllon, USCG and sister-in-law Kim McAloon of Charleston, SC; stepmother Debra McAloon of Jacksonville; stepbrother, Brad Van Hoose, BM1, USCH, San Juan, Puerto Rico; uncle and aunt, Don and Linda Campbell of Cedar Key; great aunt, Margaret Oder of Cedar Key; and nieces Kelsey, Caroline and Savannah McAloon, all of Charleston, SC.
