03.06 JINGLE – TEAM LIFE

Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 - Korainen Brothers feature

03.11 VO

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault-sport.com 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France

In 1997, the Korainen brothers started their own business in motor racing. After challenging their national championships, in 2005 they decided to join the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. It was a successful switch. Winning both titles with in 2010, the Teams championship last season, the Finnish team quickly became one of the reference points in the category… Why? The magic of a brotherly business ?

03.35 ITW Marko Korainen (in English) I cannot explain this… When you work with your brother, sometimes you can make decisions without speaking… You see his face, and you know what is the reaction. It becomes easy to take a good decision together and that’s one of the interesting points…

03.55 VO

The team runs four cars in the 2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Championship… With 2 Red Bull drivers, another one followed by the Gravity program… So a very ambitious package for the reigning champions…

04.11 ITW Afa Heikkinen (In English) It is never easy, but I prefer that way than the other way around, so, it is our job to keep the Team’s flag as high as possible, but it is not easy, the competition level is so high that you cannot have any guarantee of results, even if you work the best possible.

04.27 VO

Born in 1994, 3 rd in the championship last year, behind his team mate Carlos Sainz Jr, the young Russian Daniil Kvyat is the n°1 driver in 2012… He is the most experienced and aims for the title this season…

04.42 ITW Daniil KVYAT # (RUS) (In English) When you are the leading driver of the team, you need to show that you deserve it… And I think I’m showing it right now, so… It’s really good, it’s easier to be sole, unlike last year, when we were fighting and taking points from each other with Carlos for example… And that’s why we probably lost the championship… But this year, I’m more relaxed, in terms of team position, so it’s quite good… For sure, I’m a different person, and driver… I understood all my mistakes from last year and I don’t want to repeat them anymore this year…

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault-sport.com 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France

05.15 VO With Daniil, the team has a very strong drivers line-up with the young finn (born in Spain) Patrick Kujala… ...Starting his first season in Eurocup Formula 2.0, such as the young French supported by the Gravity Race Program linked to the Team… And the local hero, in the shadow of the F1 Reigning World Champion Sebastian Vettel… Member of the , Stefan Wackerbauer…

05.37 ITW Stefan Wackerbauer #4 (GER) (In English) It’s very special there, because it is for me the one and only race in Germany this season… I really enjoy driving in this team, and of course it is very important to have a team, which is working professionally. Everything needs to fit together and only then you’re able to succeed…

05.54 VO The best need the best and Korainen Bros. team gives the best opportunities to their drivers… Aiming for a new title at the end of the season and offering experience to the rookies who may become potential champions next year… That’s the secret of a success story…

06.10 JINGLE – EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 RACE 2 – Highlights & Interview

06.14 In race two of the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, the track is wet… #7 Stoffel VANDOORNE, winner of the first race here at the Nürburgring, again starts from pole position. But as the cars head into the first corners, #3 Daniil KVYAT and #44 manage to slip past on the inside into first and second place.

06.29 (((image of cars 27 and 14 going into corner)))) - The going is very difficult, as light rain again makes the choice of tyres very tricky. But there are no major incidents despite the slippery track.

06.33 Further around the track, #44 Oliver ROWLAND pays the price of being a little too adventurous, creating an obstacle for the following cars.

06.39 After a few laps of the safety car, the running is back under way. #8 Mikko PAKARI takes the lead for several laps, with #7 VANDOORNE running second.

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault-sport.com 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France

06.48 Further back in the running, the battle is on – even here for 13 th place.

06.50 #4 Stefan WACKERBAUER is out of the race after running off in the 6th lap.

06.53 #7 VANDOORNE overtakes #8 Mikko PAKARI for the lead.

07.00 The battle is on between #17 Yu KANAMARU (Jap. KTR), #2 Esteban OCON (Fra. Korainen Team) and #31 Tanart SATHIENTHIRAKUL (Tha. Manor MP Motorsport) for 17 th position.

07.04 Meanwhile the EPIC RACING car of #22 Christof VON GRUNIGEN also falls victim to the slippery track conditions.

07.08 #15 Roman MAVLANOV makes his way around the back markers heading for 13 th position.

07.20 #25 Guiherme SILVA (Bra) is battling tooth and nail with the French driver #30 Leo ROUSSEL, and ROUSSEL comes off the worse for the wear. ((((spins))))

07.30 After a very tough run, #7 Stoffel VANDOORNE takes his second race of the weekend, having led from the 5 th lap, ahead of #24 Melville McKEE (UK) and #27 Pierre GASLY (Fra)

07.38 GFX Full Page Final Classification Race 2

07.45 Interview – VANDOORNE My rivals made a wrong decision and took the rain tyres – we took the slick tyres. It was hard surviving in the first laps, but after a couple of laps I could see that it was the right decision and then I just needed to be in the lead as fast as possible and make the gap to the others.

07.59 (Podium) With prizes handed over by Sebastien BUEMI, the star of the weekend was no doubt second placed Melville McKEE who started from the 32 nd place on the grid, and worked his way up through the entire pack to make it to the podium.

Even if we didn’t do a lot of laps in practice, after that we worked very well in the evening, and the car was just amazing. I did a good start and then I was just leading the race trying to do my best and just trying to push every lap, and to be on the limit…

10.15 GFX Full Page Final Result The first place in this race takes BIANCHI up to third place on the championship table, he is the sixth different winner of this 2012 season. Best lap time also goes to Jules BIANCHI at an average of 179 km/h.

10.24 Podium

10.33 JINGLE – MY CAREER

10.37 VO Despite a disappointing Race 1 here in Germany, Nick Yelloly - 21, from the British Midlands - has migrated from GP3 to Formula Renault 3.5 Series, and it suits him - he started 2012 with a win in Spain, and took a 2 nd place at Spa. His sporting career wasn’t always focused on speed though...

ITV NICK YELLOLY #24 (GBR – Comtec Racing) In English

10.56 “I was basically good at all sports but I was particularly good at golf until i was 13, 14 when I started thinking about... well I went to a go-karting party and that’s what kicked me off unfortunately for dad. Golf was my sport until then. Well I started really late – I was 15 so compared to most, they start when they’re 8 years old so it took a bit of catching up... 2 years of karting, into cars, but probably when I came second in the winter series of Formula Renault in 2009 – then I thought “yeah – I’m quite good at this!” and then from there we progressed, got higher and higher in the classes and still performed.

11.41 (contd...) I’m really confident, surprisingly, because there are guys here who’ve been racing a lot longer than myself so to be able to go and mix it with them straight away gives you a real confidence boost and now it’s just keeping it going – we’re quite well-placed in the championship and it’s just keeping it rolling. We’re not sure about Moscow what that tracks going to be like but the rest of the tracks i’ve been to and i know I’m fast there so yeah I’m looking forward to it.

Renault Sport Technologies Tél. : +33 (0)1 76 82 82 00 Z.A. Courtaboeuf Fax. : 33 (0)1 76 82 83 75 14, avenue des Tropiques Internet : www.renault-sport.com 91 978 Courtaboeuf Cedex - France

12.06 (contd...) Well, it’s another track with a lot of history, it’s got the Nordschleife as part of the circuit which is pretty cool – I haven’t had a chance to go round it yet – I’ve only been here once and we went to go yesterday and it was closed for some high performance testing so that was a bit of a shame. But it’s a mega track, I was here last year in GP3 I really like the track. They’ve got every type of corner so it’s really good fun to drive.

12.30 (contd...) Well first of all I want to do well in this championship. It’s the most competitive championship before F1 so obviously the F1 teams are seeing who’s doing what and when in different circuits and different conditions so first of all I’m concentrating on this year. Next year – who knows, I don’t know. This year we just about scraped the budget together, so I have to do well this year to even think about racing next year. My ultimate game is to get into Formula 1 as soon as possible but first of all I’ve just got to win the races here.

12.57 VO Being a racing driver – is it the “Playboy” lifestyle we imagine?

13.03 ITV NICK YELLOLY #24 (continues) I think that might be the case in , but everywhere else it’s not quite the same. We went from Monaco to Spa and you don’t get all the glamorous girls. They’re when you get to F1 – I guess. But still then, you don’t have time for that. When you’re at the race-track you’re there to do a job and that’s it –you train every day of the week, and then you’re with your engineers, in the team all the other days of the week, or in the simulator so you don’t have time for any of that – just concentrate on winning the races.

13.37 JINGLE – FORMULA RENAULT 3.5 SERIES RACE 2 – HIGHLIGHTS & INTERVIEW

13.41 Sunday at the Nürburgring offers changing – slightly damp conditions for race two of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series. As such, some cars are wearing slicks and others wets for the start of the race... and pole man FRIJNS is off to a clean start...

13.53 As the rain starts to fall, #8 Jules BIANCHI (Tech 1 Racing) starts slipping back and a number of cars come into the pits for a change of tyres.

14.00 The slippery track continues to pay its toll, with #11 Cesar RAMOS and #19 Yann CUNHA out of the running.

14.05 (Safety Car on track)

14.06 After the safety car, Robin FRIJNS finds his pace, but he drops down after the seventh lap with his pitstop, and won’t make it back to the leading pack.

14.10 Further back, #7 Kevin KORJUS loses traction and spins off into the gravel.

14.16 #5 and #4 Robin FRIJNS are fighting for 4 th position. BIRD gets through on the outside.

14.21 #12 Marco SORENSEN is still close to the lead after his obligatory pit stop.

14.24 #28 Arthur PIC meantime retires after spinning off the track ...

14.31 Meanwhile, the English driver #24 Nick YELLOLY is making an incredible come back through the pack, not taking any prisoners along the way ((((impacts #17 ALESHIN)))).

14.36 #22 André NEGRAO and #12 Marco SORENSEN are fighting for second place, with YELLOLY having gone through into the lead.

14.40 (((OBC))) #1 MAGNUSSEN, who has been dropping down in the pack, continues to have a hard time.

14.46 Nick YELLOLY wins by a good margin in this extremely difficult second race at the Nürburgring. And his reaction is evident!
