PART 1

00:00 OPENING TITLES – DO NOT SPEAK

00:17 ITW #9 (FRA – Tech1 Racing) In French “Hi, I’m Dorian BOCCOLACCI. Welcome to Circuit Paul Ricard for your Renault Sport Series magazine.”

00:24 POSTCARD & CIRCUIT MAP

00:25 Voice over The final leg of the 2016 season gets under way at Paul Ricard, with the Renault Sport Series returning to the south of France for the first time since 2014.

Built in 1970, the historic venue hosted 14 French Grands Prix before major renovation works.

Now a state-of-the-art circuit, the track boasts a multitude of layouts, the longest measuring in at 5.861km with the famous Mistral Straight and Signes corner.

01:05 FEATURE: TRACK WALK – ON RECCE

01:16 ITW #11 – Tech1 Racing In French “The track walk is very important to take your marks, spot the braking points, see where to hit the apex. You also check whether there have been changes compared to the previous year or to pre-season testing here at Paul Ricard.”

01:35 ITW Arnaud CHOLLEY – Sacha FENESTRAZ’ engineer In French “Last winter, the temperatures were around 15˚C in the air and 20˚C on track while we expect to be over 30˚C this weekend. We’ll have to adjust our running programme because when it’s hot you can do less laps because of tyre wear.”

01:56 ITW #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI – Tech1 Racing In French “At Tech1 Racing, we are four drivers with Sacha FENESTRAZ, Gabriel AUBRY, and I. During the track walk, we go with our four engineers and each engineer works with his driver. My engineer is Adrien BEURDELEY.”

02:16 ITW Adrien BEURDELEY – Dorian BOCCOLACCI’s engineer In French “What you say during a track walk will depend on the driver you are working with. Generally you team up with one for a full season. Dorian already knows Paul Ricard so I’ll focus on his strengths and weaknesses, reminding him what he did well and what needs improving.”

02:43 ITW #12 Gabriel AUBRY – Tech1 Racing In French “Here is our driver’s book, it’s a very important document. We always refer to it. Inside is information we use ahead of the race. We talk about the best lines, how to tackle the corners right. It’s crucial to work before coming to the circuit rather when you get on site.”

03:10 ITW Arnaud CHOLLEY – Sacha FENESTRAZ’ engineer In French “We talk about the racing lines indeed. The idea is to remind the driver the essential instructions so it becomes automatic for him in the car: which gear he should be in approaching this corner, which gear to use through the corner, where to put the power down.”

03:29 ITW Arnaud CHOLLEY – Sacha FENESTRAZ’ engineer In French “We are allowed to record videos during testing. Then we use these to show the driver the best way to take the corner.”

03:44 ITW #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI – Tech1 Racing In French “Of course sometimes, we have a bit of fun but only while on the straight lines where we have plenty of time. But then we become conscientious again as we approach the following corner. We get back in the groove. The track walk lasts

for nearly 1h30 so we stay focussed in the corners while we loosen up a bit on the straights.”

04:14 HIGHLIGHTS – EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 RACE 1

04:19 Voice over Let’s get under way with the first race of Eurocup.

04:25 Race start Great start from #14 (GBR – R-ace GP). P2 on the grid, the rookie takes the lead from pole-sitter #22 Harrison SCOTT (GBR – AVF by Adrián Vallés). Championship leader #2 (GBR – ) stays third.

04:44 Voice over Intense opening lap as #22 SCOTT overtakes #14 PALMER to reclaim the lead on Mistral straight.

05:02 Voice over Contact between #6 Bruno BAPTISTA (BRA – Fortec Motorsports) and #1 (IND – Josef Kaufmann Racing).

05:12 Voice over While #11 Sacha FENESTRAZ (FRA – ) and #3 (RUS – Josef Kaufmann Racing) fight for P5, #12 Gabriel AUBRY (FRA – Tech 1 Racing) tries to sneak in but ends up losing one place. The Frenchman will then hit #7 Nikita TROITSKIY (RUS – Fortec Motorsports) and has to pit.

05:50 Voice over In front, #2 NORRIS pushes hard and tries everything he can to get past #22 SCOTT, but to no avail. Back-to-back win for the AVF driver who takes victory number three this season, 0.152s ahead of the championship leader.

06:27 GFX Paul Ricard Race 1 Classification First podium for rookie #14 PALMER.

06:40 ITW Harrison SCOTT (GBR – AVF by Adrián Vallés) In English “Really tricky race. With the temperatures here, the tyres go off massively. I tried to find the balance between putting in quick laps and not ruining the tyres. As the race went on, Lando NORRIS caught up, I then opened a gap but he caught up again. Overall, I’m very happy to get my third win of the year for myself and AVF. A brilliant weekend with pole position and the race win, I could not ask for much more.”

07:09 Podium celebrations #22 Harrison SCOTT (GBR – AVF by Adrián Vallés) #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) #14 Will PALMER (GBR – R-ace GP) #14 WILL PALMER (GBR – R-ACE GP) 07:16 JINGLE OUT

PART 2

00:00 JINGLE RENAULT SPORT TROPHY

00:05 FEATURE: FAMILY BUSINESS

00:17 ITW #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) In English “Equipe Verschuur is a great team. I’ve raced with them for many years and feel very much at home here. The guys are doing an incredible job. They work hard, there are dedicated and they enjoy success. They are committed to every session and want to perform all the time, which is key.”

00:39 ITW Frans VERSCHUUR – Equipe Verschuur Team Owner In English “We’ve been working with Renault since 1988 so I think we’re one of the oldest teams cooperating with them. We’ve always had great efforts from Renault and I like every category and car they’ve created.”

00:56 ITW #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) In English “The season is very successful so far. The weekend in Austria was a perfect match between the car being improved as I like it and myself improving as I needed to. I made mistakes in the opening weekends and everything came together at the Red Bull Ring.”

01:18 ITW #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) In English “To race with my father as a team-mate is incredible. We have a lot of fun together. I try to improve his driving; he’s still trying to improve mine but I’m not sure if it’s working but, for sure, we’re having fun and it’s a great experience.”

01:36 ITW #21 Jeroen SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) In English

“It’s fantastic to race with my son Pieter. Last year, I was with Steijn. It’s a great family affair but, at the same time, it’s also serious business as we want to be very competitive and get the best out of it.”

01:57 ITW #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) In English “Because I know my father very well, I think it’s different from other team- mates. I can speak to him more clearly and honestly and the same for him with me. That helps for both sides to improve each other.”

02:12 Voice over Pieter’s brother Steijn SCHOTHORST came very close to winning the Renault Sport Trophy Pro title last year, just missing out in the season finale.

02:27 ITW Frans VERSCHUUR – Equipe Verschuur Team Owner In English “It was a bit our mistake in the last race that Steijn was not champion, plus we had a little bit of bad luck but that’s why we are more aggressive than last year and really want to win. We are putting more effort in the car, the people, the drivers. Everyone is motivated 100%.”

02:56 ITW #21 Jeroen SCHOTHORST – Equipe Verschuur In English “The fact that Steijn just missed the championship last year adds to the excitement and Pieter is determined to clinch the title for sure.”

03:10 ITW #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) In English “The mindset for the second half of the season is clear. We need to win the championship. We are fully focussed the whole team and I, and there is only one goal: to win every race from now on.”

03:26 HIGHLIGHTS – RENAULT SPORT TROPHY RACES

03:31 Voice over You know the drill by now in the Renault Sport Trophy: one weekend, three races and loads of high-octane, door-banging action. Let’s get started!

03:50 Voice over

First on the programme is the Endurance event. #9 Fabian SCHILLER (GER – Team Marc VDS EG 0,0) makes a strong start to vault himself up to P1 but a puncture will lead to his early retirement. Team Marc VDS team-mates #15 Fran RUEDA and Tanart SATHIENTHIRAKUL (SPA/THA – Team Marc VDS EG 0,0) pick up the baton to claim their maiden Endurance win.

04:33 ITW #15 Tanart SATHIENTHIRAKUL (THA – Team Marc VDS EG 0,0) In English “I think I was quite consistent. It’s hard to pass on this track. If I stayed consistent, I knew he could not overtake so I drove my own race.”

04:50 GFX Renault Sport Trophy Endurance standings after Paul Ricard

04:55 Voice over More drama awaits for #9 SCHILLER in the Sprint AM. The German leads for nearly the entire race before #2 Fredrik BLOMSTEDT (SWE – R-ace GP) taps and damages his car. #9 SCHILLER drops all the way down to fifth while #2 BLOMSTEDT holds on to take his maiden victory in the AM category.

05:32 ITW #2 Fredrik BLOMSTEDT (SWE – R-ace GP) In English “At the end, it was a racing incident as Fabian SCHILLER tried to block the outside, where I was trying to brake, but there was no room because we were so close. It’s a shame but I’m happy with the win.”

05:45 GFX Renault Sport Trophy Am standings after Paul Ricard #2 RUEDA is the new AM leader after a tough weekend for team-mate #9 SCHILLER.

06:01 Voice over #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur) jumps pole sitter #5 David FUMANELLI (ITA – Oregon Team) at the start of the Sprint PRO, which sees several cars making contact in the pack. The Dutchman then goes on to drive a cracking race to cruise to his third consecutive win in the category. #5 FUMANELLI and #16 Nelson PANCIATICI (FRA – Duqueine Engineering) round up the podium positions.

06:56 ITW #21 Pieter SCHOTHORST (NED – Equipe Verschuur)

In English “The car has been performing incredibly well; it’s reliable so I only have to drive it!”

07:03 GFX Renault Sport Trophy PRO standings after Paul Ricard #21 SCHOTHORST moves into the PRO lead after his dominant display.

PART 3

00:00 JINGLE EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0

00:05 FEATURE: AVF – Emerging Force

00:14 ITW Adrián VALLÉS – AVF by Adrián Vallés Team Principal In English “Last year was our first full season in Eurocup with Harrison and we won the rookie championship. Since then, we have improved, worked hard together during the winter and, at the end, we’ve managed to close the gap with the more experienced teams and the fast drivers.”

00:38 ITW #22 Harrison SCOTT – AVF by Adrián Vallés In English “To get my maiden victory at Monza was a great feeling for myself and for the team. When I first had Formula Renault last year, together with AVF, we put a lot of hard work into it and to finally get that first win on the board got a burden off my shoulders. I felt very good and, after that, the confidence went up a level. Since then, it’s been going very well.”

01:08 Voice over With this confidence came another two wins.

01:18 ITW #22 Harrison SCOTT – AVF by Adrián Vallés In English “Adrián was a fellow driver himself, at a very high standard, so he knows all mistakes and what it’s like to be a driver. From that side, it’s really good. He’s obviously very pushy because he wants to win but I like that.”

01:38 ITW Adrián VALLÉS – AVF by Adrián Vallés Team Principal In English “Our relationship started in karting because I had a go-kart team before racing in Formula Renault 3.5 and Eurocup. We did a couple of races together and since then, we’ve kept a good relationship and I knew he was always fast.”

01:55 Voice over In the title race, Harrison SCOTT has a bit of a disadvantage…

02:04 ITW #22 Harrison SCOTT – AVF by Adrián Vallés In English “It’s definitely more difficult for me. A lot of drivers do a dual program NEC and Eurocup. They have a lot more races whereas, me, I’m just doing Eurocup, I’m only out once a month and that is it. Guys also doing NEC, which is all the drivers in this championship apart from me, are out every two weeks so they’re never getting back used to the cars.”

02:30 Voice over Scott can rely on his team-mate for support though.

02:38 ITW #21 Henrique CHAVES – AVF by Adrián Vallés In English “Harrison’s pace is fast. I can do my best to try to steal some points from the guys that are fighting with him. If I finish in the top 5, I will probably steal some points from these guys, that is my ambition for the three remaining meetings.”

03:02 ITW Adrián Vallés – AVF by Adrián Vallés Team Principal In English “Once you win, you can’t relax. You’ve got to keep working because I’m sure the other teams and drivers will recover so we can’t rest.”

03:15 ITW #22 Harrison SCOTT – AVF by Adrián Vallés In English “We know points make prizes. Getting podiums and first places is a big help so we’re going to keep trying to stay on that path and we’ll see where that takes us…”

03:30 HIGHLIGHTS – EUROCUP FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 RACE 2

03:35 Voice over Drivers are all strapped and ready to go for the second and final race of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship at Paul Ricard.

03:51 Race start Pole sitter #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) enjoys a good getaway to lead into the first corner.

04:08 Race start #33 (BEL – R-ace GP) is immediately under pressure from #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI, who moves up to second place. The Belgian ace reclaims his position at the end of the first lap. #22 Harrison SCOTT (GBR – AVF by Adrián Vallés) edges #12 Gabriel AUBRY (FRA – Tech1 Racing) for P4 at the same spot.

04:35 Voice over #2 NORRIS has already opened a nice gap in front, while #9 BOCCOLACCI outbrakes himself at the Mistral chicane.

04:56 Voice over The Frenchman re-joins in third position behind #33 DEFOURNY

05:10 Voice over A costly spin for race 1 winner #22 SCOTT, who drops to ninth.

05:22 Voice over Under pressure from #9 BOCCOLACCI, #33 DEFOURNY makes a small mistake but his rival can’t capitalise on it.

05:36 Voice over In front, #2 NORRIS cruises to his fifth Eurocup win of the season to extend his championship lead to nearly 40 points. The Briton clinches the rookie championship with two rounds left this year.

06:12 GFX Paul Ricard Race 2 Classification

06:26 ITW #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) In English “We’re topping off a very good weekend. Having a second and a first was very good for the championship. The team did a great job. We struggled a lot with race pace in the past few events but we really turned it around this weekend and having a race like this makes me happy and the team as well. I have to thank them and here goes to an excellent rest of the season.”

06:50 Podium celebrations #2 Lando NORRIS (GBR – Josef Kaufmann Racing) #33 Max DEFOURNY (BEL – R-ace GP) #9 Dorian BOCCOLACCI (FRA – Tech1 Racing)

07:13 CLOSING CLIP

07:14 Voice over The Renault Sport Series delivered on its return to Paul Ricard with thrilling battles and great racing on track, and a whole lot of fun activities for the entire family off it!
