Joyce Butson, Development Officer ATHABASCA COUNTY COST-SHARED RESIDENTIAL DUST CONTROL PROGRAM APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED County Council has approved a cost-shared dust control program for residents residing adjacent to graveled County Roads. Residents may apply to have a spot treatment of dust suppressant applied on the County road in front of their residence approximately 200 Meters in length. The actual cost to apply a 200 meter treatment is approximately $900.00. Fees for participation in this program will be as follows: ALL COUNTY RESIDENTS - $300.00 No guarantee regarding the dust control effectiveness is implied and the County reserves the right to grade the road if surface conditions so require. Due to scheduling timelines, all applications and payments must be received in our office prior to April 27, 2011 in order to be eligible for this program. All applications received after the deadline WILL NOT be accepted. The County reserves the right to refuse an application if it is deemed that the roadway has sufficient residual dust control product from previous years. This is an incentive program to enhance the appearance of our Hamlets and certain roadways and at the same time, help our Community Groups to raise money. Please note that all secondary highways are now under the jurisdiction of Alberta Transportation. Rates are set as follows: • AlPac Connector Roads: • North of Hwy 55 (12 Miles) $ 100.00/Mile • West of Hwy 63 (4 Miles) $ 100.00/Mile • Hamlets of Caslan, Colinton, Grassland, Rochester & Wandering River $ 500.00 • Hamlets of Atmore, Breynat, Ellscott, Meanook & Perryvale $ 200.00 Please forward your letter of request, indicating specific hamlet or roadway to be cleaned, to Athabasca County for consideration by May 9, 2011.
