BOUNDARY BULLETIN the Official Matchday Programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download BOUNDARY BULLETIN The official matchday programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download Oldham Athletic vs. Walsall FC Sky Bet League Two - Matchday 18 Tuesday 15th December 2020 - 7pm KO HEAD COACH - HARRY KEWELL Hello and good evening Latics fans. After a great win at the weekend at home to Bradford City, it’s important that we back that up against Walsall. Hopefully, this match will be the last without fans at Boundary Park so that we can get our 12th man back. Picking up our second league home win of season on Saturday has definitely given the lads a massive boost alongside our impressive away form. The lads deserved it at the weekend after working tirelessly on the training pitch to make sure that we put things right after the Sunderland defeat. It was fantastic to have Zak Dearnley back on Saturday and he was able to get a few important minutes into his legs at the end of the game. He’s a talented player with a great attitude so it’s always good to have people of his character amongst the squad. Overall, there were countless positives from the game at Bradford, for example, I thought Dylan Bahamboula was outstanding and caused them endless problems also defensively we looked solid but it’s frustrating we didn’t come away from a clean sheet. As I keep saying we’re still a fairly new squad, so there will be bumps in the road, however, we’re looking at the big picture and once these lads know each other’s game inside out then we will be flowing. Darrell Clarke’s side will offer a tough test for us especially when you take into account some of their recent results and performances which has seen them go unbeaten in four games. They like to get the ball down and play but also have the adaptability to go direct and physical so we must be prepared. Once again, I’m thankful for all the supportive messages I’ve received on social media recently. It’s great to see the fans so passionate about their club and let’s try and kick on now and climb this table! Harry BOUNDARY BULLETIN - 03 VISITING BOUNDARY PARK… THE SADDLERS MAN AT THE TOP... DARRELL CLARKE Appointed on 10th May 2019 as the first-team manager of Walsall after the departure of Dean Keates. Previously, Clarke was the manager at Bristol Rovers from 2014 until 2018 before his appointment at the Saddlers. The 42-year-old was born in Mansfield and in 1995 he began his career with Mansfield Town. He spent six years with the Stags, making 173 appearances and netted 27 goals. Clarke moved to Hartlepool United in 2001 and spent six- years with them, the midfielder made 136 appearances and scored 22 goals for the club. Whilst playing for the club, he was part of the squad that came runners-up in the Football League Third Division during the 2002/03 campaign. In 2005, he enjoyed loan spells with Stockport County and Port Vale before joining Rochdale on loan the following season. Clarke arrived at Salisbury City in 2007 and spent six-years with the Whites, he featured 159 times and scored 13 goals. He has managed over 400 games as manager, winning over 190 of the games that he’s been in the dugout. Jacko’s Auction Supporting a Wrexham Legend! This auction will consist mainly of sporting memorabilia and funds raised will benefit two causes. Firstly Jacko, a diehard fan of Wrexham football club who is currently fighting throat cancer and secondly, Macmillan Cancer Support, registered charity in England and Wales (261017). Thanks go to kickstart2employment for helping pay for the printing costs of the auction!! Jacko’s Auction Jacko has been hit hard and is currently fighting throat cancer. Funds raised so far have helped him financially and allowed him to live his life as normally as possible. This auction is phase three of a fundraising project which has brought the community together. We have been supported throughout the process by The Evening Leader and also www.wrexham.com, individuals have donated to the auction which means every item has been gifted to us. Both local and national businesses have also supported our cause. Companies as large as Boots, and also as small as mad4movies in the market, have donated to our raffles. Thank you one and all!! Stu Roberts, one of the organisers explains, “It all started when my 10 year old daughter overheard a conversation about a group of friends having a whip round for Jacko. Due to having to give up work we knew that he would be short of cash until he beats the cancer, and we wanted to help. Over the next few days Megan compiled a list of fundraising events that she wanted to arrange. So far she has arranged a cake sale at Ysgol Bryn Collen and raised just shy of eighty pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Hello All, Hope you all had a fantastic weekend and it was great to see, in some limited ways, football fans back into stadiums in England last Saturday afternoon. Below were the ‘sell out’ scenes at Carrow Road where Norwich left it late to rescue a point against Preston North End as Canaries fans were able to bask in the late summer sun in East Anglia. They were scenes played out at a few other grounds around the country and we all had our fingers crossed that if we could all behave in the next few weeks we would soon be able to start watching our favourite teams in person. The news that came on Tuesday afternoon when Boris Johnson spoke to the nation really came as a blow to us all and the chances of getting crowds into grounds this season now really looks a long way off. Did Brentford deliberately try and make their new stadium look like a Subbuteo Stadium? If they did, they nailed it as it hardly looks real when you are watching on television! I have to say having been a regular over the past few seasons to Brentford I would really miss my trips to the tight confines of the old ground and it will be interesting to see how the Bess perform in their home. Griffin Park smelt of Bovril whenever I stepped through its gates and I mean that in the very nicest of ways as it had the feel of an incredibly old football ground steeped in history. Yes, clubs need to move forward and progress but I can’t help but feel that Brentford has lost a part of their history.

BOUNDARY BULLETIN The official matchday programme of Oldham Athletic Football Club Free to Download Oldham Athletic vs. Bolton Wanderers Sky Bet League Two - Matchday 31 Tuesday 2nd March 2021 - 7pm KO HEAD COACH - HARRY KEWELL “Hi everyone and thanks once again for supporting us from home.” There’s always an extra sense of anticipation when a home fixture comes straight on the back of a good away win and that’s certainly been evident over the past few days in our preparation for this evening’s game. The result we picked up at Carlisle United on Saturday felt like more than just three points due to the manner in which it was achieved and the character shown by the players to come from behind in such dramatic circumstances. As a team, we have developed a habit this season of battling back in games, and for the second successive Saturday, I was incredibly proud of our determination to keep going against strong opposition and produce a hard-earned result. I have said throughout the season that we have a young squad full of potential and our ability to record a win at Carlisle, along with the draw at Tranmere Rovers the previous weekend, shows we are progressing in the right way. Of course, we were all disappointed with the home defeat against Barrow in the middle of those results, but to respond so quickly in a difficult fixture is testament to the players and their hunger to put things right. No-one typifies that mentality more than Carl Piergianni who, despite being limited in his game-time in recent weeks, came off the bench to register an outstanding second-half performance at Brunton Park before scoring the goal that made sure of the win.
