A new concept of moving centre, centroid, dynamic centre in urban system, called “the programmatic weighted mean, symmetric moving centre”, can be used to represent the successive optimization, successive appearances of various programs based on collective facilities equilibrium and their potential values. The absolute central point is substituted by a magnetic field composed of several interactions among the collective facilities and also by the changing value of programs through time. The center moves continually into this interactive field. Consequently, we introduce mathematical methods of analysis such as “the centroid” and “the weighted mean” to calculate and visualize the dynamics of the urban centre. These methods heavily depend upon symmetry. We will describe and establish the moving centre from a point of view of symmetric optimization that answers the question of the evolution and successive equilibrium of the city. In order to explain and represent dynamic transformations in urban area, we tested this programmatic moving center in unstable and new urban environments such as agglomeration areas around Lausanne in Switzerland. -

Foundations of Newtonian Dynamics: 1 An Axiomatic Approach for the Thinking Student C. J. Papachristou 2 Department of Physical Sciences, Hellenic Naval Academy, Piraeus 18539, Greece Abstract. Despite its apparent simplicity, Newtonian mechanics contains conceptual subtleties that may cause some confusion to the deep-thinking student. These subtle- ties concern fundamental issues such as, e.g., the number of independent laws needed to formulate the theory, or, the distinction between genuine physical laws and deriva- tive theorems. This article attempts to clarify these issues for the benefit of the stu- dent by revisiting the foundations of Newtonian dynamics and by proposing a rigor- ous axiomatic approach to the subject. This theoretical scheme is built upon two fun- damental postulates, namely, conservation of momentum and superposition property for interactions. Newton’s laws, as well as all familiar theorems of mechanics, are shown to follow from these basic principles. 1. Introduction Teaching introductory mechanics can be a major challenge, especially in a class of students that are not willing to take anything for granted! The problem is that, even some of the most prestigious textbooks on the subject may leave the student with some degree of confusion, which manifests itself in questions like the following: • Is the law of inertia (Newton’s first law) a law of motion (of free bodies) or is it a statement of existence (of inertial reference frames)? • Are the first two of Newton’s laws independent of each other? We investigate circles intercepting chords of specified lengths on the sidelines of a triangle, a theme initiated by L. Stammler [6, 7]. We generalize his results, and concentrate specifically on the Stammler circles, for which the intercepts have lengths equal to the sidelengths of the given triangle. 1. Introduction Ludwig Stammler [6, 7] has investigated, for a triangle with sidelengths a, b, c, circles that intercept chords of lengths µa, µb, µc (µ>0) on the sidelines BC, CA and AB respectively. He called these circles proportionally cutting circles,1 and proved that their centers lie on the rectangular hyperbola through the circumcenter, the incenter, and the excenters. He also showed that, depending on µ, there are 2, 3 or 4 circles cutting chords of such lengths. B0 B A0 C A C0 Figure 1. Regular spatial objects, such as planes, are frequently used for this task. This paper deals with the automatic detection of ellipses in camera images, as well as to estimate the 3D position of the spheres corresponding to the detected 2D ellipses. We propose two novel methods to (i) detect an ellipse in camera images and (ii) estimate the spatial location of the corresponding sphere if its size is known. The algorithms are tested both quantitatively and qualitatively. Kaleidoscopic Symmetries and Self-Similarity of Integral Apollonian Gaskets
Kaleidoscopic Symmetries and Self-Similarity of Integral Apollonian Gaskets Indubala I Satija Department of Physics, George Mason University , Fairfax, VA 22030, USA (Dated: April 28, 2021) Abstract We describe various kaleidoscopic and self-similar aspects of the integral Apollonian gaskets - fractals consisting of close packing of circles with integer curvatures. Self-similar recursive structure of the whole gasket is shown to be encoded in transformations that forms the modular group SL(2;Z). The asymptotic scalings of curvatures of the circles are given by a special set of quadratic irrationals with continued fraction [n + 1 : 1; n] - that is a set of irrationals with period-2 continued fraction consisting of 1 and another integer n. Belonging to the class n = 2, there exists a nested set of self-similar kaleidoscopic patterns that exhibit three-fold symmetry. Furthermore, the even n hierarchy is found to mimic the recursive structure of the tree that generates all Pythagorean triplets arXiv:2104.13198v1 [math.GM] 21 Apr 2021 1 Integral Apollonian gaskets(IAG)[1] such as those shown in figure (1) consist of close packing of circles of integer curvatures (reciprocal of the radii), where every circle is tangent to three others. These are fractals where the whole gasket is like a kaleidoscope reflected again and again through an infinite collection of curved mirrors that encodes fascinating geometrical and number theoretical concepts[2]. The central themes of this paper are the kaleidoscopic and self-similar recursive properties described within the framework of Mobius¨ transformations that maps circles to circles[3]. Counting problems for Apollonian circle packings An Apollonian circle packing is one of the most of beautiful circle packings whose construction can be described in a very simple manner based on an old theorem of Apollonius of Perga: Theorem 1.1 (Apollonius of Perga, 262-190 BC).
