. MEETING REVISI FED IS members and many guests (10 signed in) attended the July 11 SFSFS meeting, which was combined with the South FL Amateur Astronomical Society. Secretary Judy Bemis reported a total Current membership of 86, broken down as follows: 40 general, 3 Honorary, 4 business, 5 child? and 32 regular members (11 of which were founding regular members). Treasurer Peggy Dolan reported a SFSFS account balance of *1,264.71 and a Tropicon account balance of *3, 226.13 . PROGRAM - Bruce Haigh, Director at Large of SFAAA and Ron Beauregard, '-'resident of SFAAA gave a fascinating discuss ion/lecture on astronomy and telescopes. Bruce pointed out many bright stars and constel1at ions and memory aids to help find them. Ron discussed the 2 fixed tele­ scopes that their club has; a Brandon 6.5” (16.51 cm ?) Refractor which was donated-to the club from an astronomer at the University of Puerto Rico and was owned by Mr. Brandon personally in the 1930’s; and a Cassegrain 12 1/2” Reflector made by the club. We viewed Saturn (including Titan and the Cassini Division) through the Refractor and M^l (a globular cluster) through the reflector. The South Florida Amateur Astronomical Association is an 85 member club whose primary interest is astronomy (sights, photography, etc.). They have a fixed building (she Fox Astronomical Obserbatory) in Markham Park and meet mere on alternate Saturdays and at other times.
