For Immediate Release For Immediate Release Golf legend to host the battle to be 1O1O Golf Champion Asian game on the rise, says 1O1O Ambassador Sandy Lyle as he returns for 1O1O Golf Challenge Grand Final Hong Kong, 3 April 2012 – After six months of tightly contested qualifying rounds, 80 of the top amateur golfers from Hong Kong will battle it out to be the first 1O1O Golf Champion on 24 April at Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club. Competitors will have the privilege of being joined by former Masters, Open, and Ryder Cup winner Sandy Lyle, who returns to Hong Kong from carrying the 1O1O brand in the first golf major of the year, the 2012 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, USA. Scots golf legend Sandy Lyle and Christina Kim, another 1O1O golf ambassador, will jointly host the Grand Final, playing alongside the competitors and offering one-on- one coaching on the day. The players will benefit from Lyle’s experience and expertise, immediately after he competes with the world’s elite golfers at the 2012 Masters. In 1988, Lyle became the first Briton to win the coveted green jacket and the Scots veteran will be returning to Augusta with happy memories. “The Masters stands out from other tournaments because it is held at the same course, year in year out,” says Lyle. “It is the first major of the year and that creates lots of excitement.” Since his historic win in 1988, he says, the event is as good as ever. “From the minute you walk on the grounds to the time you leave, everything is immaculate and I am looking forward to it.” Lyle tips Tiger Woods and Luke Donald for strong showings this year. As for his own prospects, “I will start at the first and finish on the eighteenth, and we’ll see what happens.” A number of competitors from the Asia-Pacific region will compete in the 2012 Masters Tournament, as with the 1O1O Golf Challenge, a reflection of the continuing rise of golf as a sport in the region. “Competition from overseas players is getting stronger and stronger,” says Lyle. “That includes players from Asia-Pacific and it is only a matter of time before one will break through.” “The 1O1O Golf Challenge is the first of its kind in Hong Kong, where amateur golfers have the opportunity to play in a competition alongside world-class professional golfers,” says Mark Liversidge, Chief Marketing Officer, CSL Limited. “The winner will have set the benchmark for this competition, which we will continue to hold annually.” Beginning in October 2011, 225 men and women competed in the four qualifying rounds of the 1O1O Golf Challenge at Clearwater Bay. The ladies’ day raised funds for the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation and was hosted by Christina Kim, one of the leading professional female golfers and ambassador for the 1O1O Golf Challenge. 1O1O also ran a virtual Golf Challenge through City Links Golf Lounge in Central, where hundreds of golf amateurs took part – the winners will also compete in the Grand Final. In addition, through its partnership with the HKGA, the winner of each of the HKGA Closed Amateur Championships has earned a place in the 1O1O Golf Challenge Grand Final. 1O1O is committed to providing its customers with unparalleled benefits and experiences. The Golf Challenge is just one example of the exclusive events available to customers that epitomizes the Hong Kong lifestyle experience.
