EVANSVILLE PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA PARTNERS WITH LINCOLN AMPHITHEATRE TO CELEBRATE LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

Evansville, - Returning to Lincoln Amphitheatre’s stage for the third consecutive year, the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Alfred Savia, will perform “Indiana Music Legends Featuring the Music of Michael Jackson” on Saturday, September 1, 2018. The evening will also feature patriotic selections, as well as a number of collaborative pieces with the Heritage Hills High School choir. The Heritage Hills Middle School choir will perform a pre-show beginning at 6:30 PM, central time.

The Orchestra will begin the concert at 7:30 PM, central time, with the “Cole Porter Salute” followed by Hoagy Carmichael’s “An American Treasure.” The first half will continue with additional Cole Porter favorites and patriotic songs, including the “Armed Forces Salute” while recognizing veterans in the audience. The second half gives tribute to John Mellencamp with “Pink Houses” and Michael Jackson with “Thriller,” “Beat It,” “Billie Jean,” and “Smooth Criminal.”

In addition, the EPO will play a fully orchestrated “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Freddie Mercury. It is fitting to include this in a concert about Indiana music legends, as Hoosier Adam Lambert has taken over the lead vocalist role with active members of Queen, and Theatre graduate, Rami Malek, will star as Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biographical film about Mercury and Queen.

“It is always a pleasure working with the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra on what has become one of our most anticipated events of the year,” said Marc Steczyk, Lincoln Amphitheatre’s director. “That they will pre-dominantly feature the music of contemporary and classic Indiana songwriters, while also partnering with local youth and talent, will most definitely add value to what is already a very special show, as well as create memories that will last a lifetime for the participants.”

“The musicians of the Evansville Philharmonic and I are once again thrilled to be kicking off our season at Lincoln Amphitheatre, states Music Director, Alfred Savia.” “Having lead two weeks of outdoor concerts earlier this summer in Central Indiana, I can attest to the fact that no other venue in the state comes close to the wonderful, natural acoustics of Lincoln Amphitheatre. It is the only outdoor venue where the Orchestra can play – and the audience can hear – a pure, natural, unamplified orchestral ensemble of acoustic instruments!”

The doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $19.95 for general admission and $24.95 for VIP (preferred seating and parking, free drink voucher, and commemorative event poster) and are available online at www.LincolnAmphitheatre.com or by calling 812.937.2329.

For a limited time, the online promo code “INDIANA” will unlock a $2 per general admission/$3 per VIP ticket discount. Children 12 and under are welcome to attend the performance free.
